@ soccerballtux: Naw, AMD paid them off for the first test. Without any proof, one unfounded accusation is just as valid as another.

Seriously though, I dont think game.gpu is an intel and nVidia shill site, since for many months they had ads for AMD gpus and cpus on their front page. The gpus were also different, and the intel quad cpus in the BF4 bench you cited were 2 generations old.
talking about the game makers

That's beneath you.

AMD was already awarded damages from them in the lawsuit against Intel for this behavior. someone hasn't been paying attention to history
No, it's not. Don't forget that AMD channel is choking with unsold inventory, and they have a lot of written off inventory they still have to sell in the channel for whatever money they can recoup. That's why we are seeing some crazy AMD deals as of lately, as almost any price suits them.

as I would expect it to if game developers are unfairly optimizing/crippling

I think that somebody might be you. Do you have a citation on this award?

The intent of my reply was that you usually don't act like a fanboy, and claims of Intel paying off developers is just that.

FX6300 is not a bad CPU for what its worth, especially with DX12 around the corner. Compared to the Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge Core i3s,it was quite competitive.

However, the Haswell Core i3 CPUs do have a better upgrade path if you do intend to get a secondhand CPU at a later date, since you can get a Core i5 or Core i7,and if you want to go for a smaller PC,socket 1150 has mini-ITX motherboards which AM3+ lacks.

Intel is releasing new processors soon so that's another nail in the FX coffin. Zen needs to happen yesterday

It's that sort of "praise" that makes me shake my head.

why ?? it is true that at the time of release (especially today) the FX6300 was way faster in MT loads and had a lot of wins in games against the SB and Ivy Core i3s.

Ohh and those two games are the ones the FX had the lower performance.

Today the Haswell Core i3s are better but they came one year after the FX6300 was released.
But again the FX6300 may be on par or better than Haswell Core i3 in DX-12 games. We just have to wait and see.

Gaming doesn't really show much difference, though. It's pointless to say that an FX6300 was a little better than an IB or SB i3 in this game or that game.

No one is going to notice the difference between 185fps and 200fps or 235 fps anyway.

Damning with faint praise, imo.

People are interested in today's chips, not yesterday's chips.

Saying that the FX6300 is better than an IB i3 makes me wonder at the reaching required to praise a CPU.

And I really don't have any complaints about the FX6300 when considered by itself. It's a decent cpu.

Why are you guys still arguing? The OP hasn't been back.

Exactly. Same old, same old. Single digit poster drops one liner flame bait thread. Unending, circular arguments ensue. Nobody's mind is changed. Nothing is gained.

I shake my head at selective quoting to push strawmans. I like how the second part of my post is on purpose ignored.

Go back and read what I said and ALL of it instead of trying to twist something to try and win some argument which I am not interested in.

PS:

I owned SB and IB Core i3s and had mates with fx6300 CPUs too. Not interested in getting into childish forum wars.

I recently built an FX-6300 system for an employee's daughter. I decided it was a good choice for what she wanted to do. It was a fun build, and she's thrilled with it.

She needed a relatively high performance computer on a budget.

I had no problems with the build and had no complaints with the performance.

Real friends don't let friends buy/build AMD systems with fewer than 8 threads in 2015, with few exceptions.*

SNB and IVB are obsolete and you shouldn't even be thinking about buying one if you are interested in a new CPU against a 6300. That would be a i3 4330 which would thrash a 6300. And in games *shudders* . . .

Not sure why you posted that. I would never buy an SB or IB I3.

My post about IB I3 was a response to #104.

I currently own a G3258, I3-4360, & I7-4790K

Plus an AMD "Callisto" B59 unlocked to 4 cores.
