AMD FX-55 149.99 !!

Too good to be true.
A fellow on HF called and they said it was the correct price. I just installed my X2 4800 yesterday, but had to do it. The cheapest shipping to Ohio was 14.50. I may put it on Ebay.

Why is this hot when you can get a retail Athlon 64 X2 3800+, which performs better on Tom's CPU table, for the same price?

People who are still into single core and want an unlocked multi?

Can somebody explain, in a nutshell, the difference between the FX-55 and X2 3800+ and what difference it would make for me in gaming performance?

FX-55: 1 Core, 2.6 GHz, 1MB Cache/core
X2 3800+: 2 Cores, 2.0 GHz, 512KB Cache/core

Basically, the FX-55 will be faster in games that don't take advantage of the second core of the X2 3800+, in games that do the X2 3800+ will probably be a bit faster.

However, X2 3800's often overclock to 2.5-2.6 GHz with some decent cooling, the most you're going to get out of an FX-55 is 2.8-3.0GHz.

Even if you don't use the FX-55 yourself, you can eBay it for $225-250 or sell it on here too.

I'm debating picking one up, it's a good deal, but I'm worried about the store......

They used to be quite reputable several years ago. I live near Bellevue so I could always drive over if I got a bad chip, but I think I would rather just order an X2 3800+ or 4200+ from Newegg, no sales tax and a retail HSF.

Does the site work for everyone else but me? 😕

For me it gives an error saying "Timeout expired."

If it works for everyone else, can someone PM me (or post it here) the phone number? You can call and order, right? I don't want to miss out on this.

Yea, this is the old clawhammer core. The newer ones on the 90nm were San Diegos cores. This was an awesome chip back in its day, but right now I'd stick with a S939 Opteron if you want a single core CPU that has plenty of OC'ing potential.

try to check out notice the credit card page isn't 128bit security(there isn't a lock)!Isn't that risk to put your credit card number on the unprotect site?
