AMD FX-4130 tray cpu--$39.99 (Another MicroCenter special--in-store only!)

I think they hold the online orders for 5-7 days. Might vary though so you might wanna double check.

damn, nice deal. if anyone picks up an extra I would buy it for a couple extra bones.

PM me and maybe we can work something out 🙂

Wow, a respectable quad-"core" CPU, for the same price Newegg is charging for a single-core AM3 Sempron CPU.

Do note that you need an AM3+ mobo to run this in, it won't drop into plain AM3 boards (sadly).

Any pros/cons to this over my current 1075T? Will it run any cooler for general office use being 4 cores vs 6?

it might run cooler because it is less cores and a smaller process, but it will be less powerful overall. I think they would be similarly powered core for core though. So single threaded performance might not take a hit, but if you do anything highly multi threaded you might see a performance hit.

Looks like a sweet deal to me. I upgraded my son's rig with one of these (mobo, RAM & vid card too) with a Black Friday deal it ran me $80. Mine was retail box with fan at that price though. Runs BF4 fantastic with a ATI R9 270x. Been a intel/ nVivia fan so long I was actually surprised with this cheaper AMD build.

No stability problems what so ever running a BIOSTAR TA970. Under load the stock fan gets a little loud for my taste, but hey it was included and works.

It's Faildozer. Heat was its major issue. Both are 125W chips. It'll be slightly faster single-threaded due to its higher clocks, but only slightly.

For office use your 1075T should be at idle nearly 100% of the time, so heat shouldn't be an issue. Are you sure you have your power plan set to allow Cool & Quiet to downclock/downvolt?

Yep, it idles down. It rarely goes above 25% doing anything except video editing and PS. I think the big heat generator is the 6850 video card.

does anyone know if this processor purchase qualifies you for the FREE Gigabyte motherboard? Usually the GA-78LMT-S2P is free with a processor purchase.

My AMD Dual core machine at home could really use an update.

No bundle deal for this. In the future all you need to do is look at the ad on the website, or just add items to your cart on the website and see if it works.
