Hey guys, I'm interested in buying an AMD Fusion Netbook/Laptop and I'm having trouble finding a good variety to go through. If you could be so kind to post for sale links, I'll add them to this first post. I'll add the ones I see.

Thanks

They have the dm1z on HP's official site for as low as $450 before taxes.

And the Lenovo X120e that should be available soon should also be about $450. I agree, those Vaios do not look the least bit compelling given their costs. Ha, they want $40 more for the model that has a whopping 1gb more RAM. What a joke.

there is a $550 vaio with 2gb of ram.

then agian there is a coupon for HP shopping for $30 off the dm1z, and you can get 3% ebates on hp.

the keyboard on thesony also sucks (the right shift is a weird size, cheap sony trying to use the same bezels for asia and us)

the x120e is not going to be that cheap. its $400 for a e-240 one that is a stripper. one configured like the HP will probably be $500+

I read from Lenovo that they were being released tomorrow but then CNet said they were delayed until March. I pray that Lenovo really does release it tomorrow because I won't have to buy the HP when I get home today.

Also, the HP has promo code "techbarg30" drops the HP by $30.

Satellite C650D-BT2N15 Laptop

base laptop

includes:
  • AMD E-Series Processor E-240
  • Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium
  • 2GB memory
  • 250GB hard drive
  • ATI® Integrated Graphics
  • DVD SuperMulti Drive
  • 1366x768 native screen resolution
  • 802.11n wireless
100 bucks off ends today...So... I was wondering... Toshiba build quality seems to be a bit better then Acer. For 400 bucks doesn't sound too bad.. But the E-240 single core ...

My Thoughts.

Slower? Yeah, but how much slower? A lot for a single core?

Slower but ... Cooler? Dunno... Thoughts... Still a pretty snappy IGP I suppose.

The Sony E350 looks the best.
It has a backlit keyboard!
but the keyboard is shrunken with some awkward keys

So the sony is 599.99 and looks nice
But sony is gimping them and shipping all of them the 3 cell.
So, add the extended battery for 249.99

And from the review i hear the speakers are as bad on the old msi wind atom netbook.
So add in the logitech soundbar for 50$

So what is this..$$ 899.98

The more I look at the e350s the more I want to wait for sandy bridge ulv

...The HP looks like the best deal,
my only concerns are the glossy screen
and the weird bottom right area of the keyboard
I use the page up/ page down button a LOT on little screen laptops
don't know how comfortable the shortcut combination is, or if 1 handed

I'd forgotten about that one, that seems a pretty fair price. Would like it a little closer to $400 though.

So Sony charges that price and sticks the crap batteries in them too? That is lame.

I liked the way lenovo built the old AMD congo/nile ones...xe100? I think? They look like a mini thinkpad which has a sort of rugged utilitarian style that appeals to me. That said, I'd be surprised if the new ones come in around the same price as the HP...they were always one of the more expensive models before.

Actually, if you use promocode "techbarg30" you can get it for an additional $30 off. So for me it's $437 with shipping and taxes covered for an AMD E-350, 11.6" screen, good speakers, decent keyboard, 6 hours of battery life, 320GB hard drive, 3GB RAM and happiness :)

Still waiting to see how the Asus 1215B looks before I jump on the Fusion train. Why is it taking so long?!

Also; the specs for the Acer on amazon are completely out of whack. 8 lb? 3 hr battery? Does it have a DVD drive? But if it really is only 2 GB ram and a 5400 rpm drive the HP looks like a better deal for just slightly higher price.

anyone hear anything bad about the HP dm1z? I've just about talked myself into buying it to replace my HP mini 1000 (I've been wanting a new netbook with a little more power under the hood and additional drive space)... my only hang-up right now is that I can only buy it on HP.com for the $450* price (there's one listed on amazon, but for $600... but I have $400 in amazon gift certificates from x-mas that I'd love to use up)

*$425 with my EPP discount

Newegg now has the ASRock mini-ITX board for $117 shipped. The Gigabyte mini-ITX I bought for $157 makes the D510/Ion a tough sell - these lower-priced Zacate boards make them totally irrelevant.

Ordered myself a DM1Z :D

I'll try to update OP with the links from official sites(sony, hp, etc) later on this week...maybe today. I have a few programs that I need to code by next week and I gotta finish those first.

Doesn't seem like it'll be shipping for at least a week. I'll be putting my SSD in it. I think it incorporates UEFI though I can't find any info saying so. If it doesn't, it boots pretty fast from what I've seen.

If you're willing to wait a while, I'll let you know how it is and such but otherwise, I can't help you until I get it.

i can't decide between the dm1z and the ao522. the 522 really fits what i want more, especially with the 10.1" screen, but the extra horsepower is hard to pass by.

When purchasing the dm1z with the coupon code from their official website, it costs only $100 more than the a0522. It provides you with more processing power, higher resolution, larger screen, better video playback capabilities, same (or at least similar to my knowledge) battery life, and weighs about the same. Hardware wise, it comes with more RAM and a larger and faster hard drive. It's a pretty big step up for a small price to pay IMO. That being said, I still feel the ao522 is a good choice as well.
