Welps posting from my cell phone cause now none or my screens get a signal.

This is turning into a real headache. Haha. After an awesome day glad good old AMD can turn things around for me.

Can you boot from the iGPU?

The following has worked for me whenever I've had issues with the AMD drivers. The list is kinda dated now so some items in the list might not be present anymore.

1. Go to Add/Remove Programs
2. Uninstall the Catalyst Install manager (Express Uninstall)
3. Reboot the computer and log back into windows as normal
4. Go to folder options and select “show hidden files and folders”
The next part of the guide will remove all ATi/AMD files and folders from the computer.
5. Go to your C drive and remove the “AMD” folder
6. Double click the “Program Data” folder (Normally hidden) and remove all ATi/AMD folders
7. Go back to C and double click “Program Files” and remove all ATi/AMD folders
8. Go back to C and double click “Program Files (x86)” and remove all ATi/AMD folders
9. Go back to C and double click “Users”
10. Access the name of your windows profile and double click “AppData” (Normally hidden)
11. Check the “Local”, “LocalLow” and “Roaming” folders for any ATi/AMD folders and remove them.
12. Go back to “Users” and check the “Default” folder (Normally hidden)
13. Double click “AppData” (Normally hidden)
14. Check the “Local” and “Roaming” folders for any ATi/AMD folders and remove them.
The next part of the guide will remove registry entries left by the AMD drivers.
15. Close everything down and go back to your desktop
16. Click start, then type “regedit”.
17. Click “HKEY_CURRENT_USER” and extend the folder
18. Click “Software” and extend the folder
19. Remove all AMD and ATi Folders
20. Click “Wow6432Node” and extend the folder (Within the software folder)
21. Remove the “AMD” folder
22. Click “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE” and extend the folder
23. Click “SOFTWARE” and extend the folder
24. Remove all AMD and ATi Folders
25. Click “Wow6432Node” and extend the folder
26. Remove all AMD and ATi Folders
27. Click “HKEY_USERS” and extend the folder
28. Click “.DEFAULT” and extend the folder
29. Click “Software” and extend the folder
30. Remove all AMD and ATi folders
31. Click “S-1-5-18” and extend the folder
32. Click “Software” and extend the folder
33. Remove all AMD and ATi folders
34. Click “S-1-5-21-1632250243-966907716-928185508-1000” and extend the folder
35. Click “Software” and extend the folder
36. Remove all AMD and ATi Folders
37. Close down regedit and empty your recycle bin
38. Undo the folder options change to hide the hidden folders
39. Reboot
40. Install your AMD/Nvidia drivers and reboot

Okay, got video again, even installed 13.8's again but now...

Boooyaaaa! I wonder if this is because I'm running Win8.1? Ah, another night lost.

Honestly have no idea WTF is going on now. I got video going to my a spare 22" Acer using DVI/VGA adapter, can't even display the native resolution of the monitor (1650x1050), my Auria isn't receiving signal from any of the ports on either of the two cards, and I can't get into CCC.

Might just call it quits and revert back to 13.6Beta_whatever. Clearly my system doesn't want 13.8Betas.

Think I read the drivers don't work with 8.1 yet.

If this is true, /facepalm.

I should have figured. I recall Balla using 8.1, but I could be wrong.

Didn't AMD just recently release a new 8.1 driver? Let me see if I Can find it...

Found this on OCN:

"Installation instructions for Windows 8.1 users:

- Download the latest AMD Catalyst Win 8.1 Release Preview Drivers.
- Extract it.
- Replace the "Drivers" folder inside "Packages" with the one that comes with 13.8
- Run the setup."

This is great for me. I have a HD 7850 @1100 Core on stock Voltage and it does mainly everything I want it to do, even though I have a 1440p monitor.

I have been trying to get a second one for Crossfire for a decent price, so if this fixes the problems slightly then it might be enough to stop me having to get the next gen cards depending on how it plans out.

No dice, still can't open CCC - same error screen as I posted above.

Guess I'll just see if these Win8.1 Preview drivers even work.

You do realize that's an OpenGL driver?

It's a whole package, the most recent AMD released that supports Windows 8.1.

I assumed it included the most recent 8.1 3D driver on top of the updated OpenGL driver. It wouldn't just be an OpenGL driver - would it? EDIT: Download file is 234MBs, same as Beta 13.8 File size.

Either way, I got everything working and not sure what versions of what I'm running now.

I ran the Beta 13.8 Installer, realized it was only installing the CCC portion, but not the Display Driver. Got that installed, then I used the "OpenGL 4.3" installer and that installed display drivers...long story short...

DAFUQ is this?

I have the Frame Pacing under 3D settings, my second card is idling at 0/0, and my main card is idling at 300/150 again.

Looks like you need to do a full uninstall + wipe clean with Driver Fusion, and install fresh.

Ok, i installed these on my single 7850 and did some testing :

Unigine Valley : 1230p extreme, + 3 points from 13.6b2

Hitman Absolution Bench : 39 fps average, + 5 fps from 13.6b2

Also Witcher 2 doesnt chug down when i exit the Inn in Floatsam and focus on the entrance to the forest, also seems alot more smoother.

So far they are pretty great.

I'm running Win7x64. My installation procedure for any gfx drivers is as follows:

1) Uninstall CCC/Drivers/CAPs in Control Panel (no restart inbetween).
2) Run Driver Cleaner, Driver Fusion, and CCleaner.
3) Restart, and run ATIMan Uninstaller in "auto".
4) Restart, and install CCC/Drivers.
5) Restart, and install CAPs.
6) Restart.

I'm sure I could skip a restart or two, but with an i7/SSD, restarting takes about 15 seconds.

One thing I'd like to note is that the CCC/Driver install took much, much longer than normal.

So Balla, with your CF 7950s, do you visually notice improvements? I ask because you are one of those who strongly noticed microstuttering.

I used the leaked drivers :|

Is there a difference?

I'm overclocking my main card with my second shut off, playing some more casual games, also been downlocking it to 800MHz and undervolting it into the dirt.... No huge issues, though sometimes I get your problem and have the flip AB on and off for ULPS and unofficial OC mode, reboot reinstall, fun stuff that everyone enjoys. Also I have to tab out and move the powertune on the second card otherwise it throttles at stock (I can't adjust voltage on it).

AMD - Where concessions are made everyday ;)

Overclocking doesn't work properly in multicard unless you disable powerplay and ULPS.

That's what I do.

I get it to work (generally), up to 1050/1525, after that nope.

Edit: As far as my experience with the new drivers, I have none. I haven't been in a game that needed two cards or even high clocks since Sleeping Dogs (Which I ran with ULPS enabled 1050/1525).

I also didn't think I complained a lot, mostly just Far Cry 3 really. I don't have it installed and don't plan to I wasn't a big fan of it.

The only problem I've noticed so far with 13.8 is that my monitor now takes an unusually long time to wake up from idle.

To be specific, previously it only took one or two seconds. Now after installing 13.8, when I walk up to my PC after a period of inactivity and move the mouse to wake up my monitor, it takes a good 6-8 seconds. First time it happened I thought my computer was completely unresponsive, and/or it had crashed. But after a moment the screen finally turned on.

A bizarre issue; nothing critical so far, but it is irritating. We'll see how it behaves for the next little while.

I'd guess you could say it's pacing itself? :awe:

FC3 is just a stutter mess, even on single cards so its inclusion in these reviews is pointless.

Anyway its good to see PoV of users of both brands. For me, single card wise, there's no difference. I like the SMAA inject in Radeon Pro, it removes aliasing with minimal blurry compared to FXAA.. but I also like the adaptive vsync global or profiles via NV control panel. Gameplay wise its not any different.
