AMD financial results predictions thread

I'm surprised there are so many that think AMD will lose tons this quarter. To me, it looks like they'll make around a $20M profit as long as they don't have another 'one time charge.'

Its funny how sometimes the cost of doing business is not captured as the cost of doing business...instead it gets balled up into a "one time writedown" and all the previous quarters still get to look less awful than they really were had the impending writedown not been kept off the books all the while.

But I agree, provided AMD doesn't really report on how its business decisions and financials are working out, they should at least tell their shareholders they are making a profit and push-out some portion of their next "one time charge" to a future business quarter. That's only fair.

Non-Gaap reporting...its a wonderful thing! (just ask the banking industry! Ruiz was quite familiar with how these games are played 😉)

I opened a small position during the day before AMD warned. AARGH. Down 15% or so. However, I never use a significant amount of my capital on AMD as it really is more or less a trading vehicle.

Made all of it back (and more) buying the INTC dip (with all remaining capital + full margin) to the $24.70's and fading it at $25.20.

I think it was ultra-slimy for AMD to warn so close to the actual report. But really, AMD is not investment grade material. I prefer INTC and NVDA. Squeaky clean balance sheets, solid management, and good prospects.

Oh, right, AMD's quarter...uh, yeah, I bet they turn a small profit. Should allow for a nice bounce for me to get out of this losing position 🙂

Even if they make profits their best move would be to offset
any profitability number since they could end paying taxes ,
while a balanced AMD would already appear as a good result
given their financial history so i insist on my previous number,
i.e , balanced accounts.

Intel reduced growth. They are not making statements of sales declines as AMD is. Intel's sales actually increased this quarter, and met prior forecasts.

Thanks for the clarification, but it's likely the cause of AMDs' troubles as well.
