Hi.

I love AMD. Have AMD. Eveything AMD.

Just got a job as Product Manager and I am in charge of the Intel brand, so I have to convince people that Intel rUleZzZ if I want to keep my job and earn money.

That's all I have to say about that.

I like AMD, but I'm not going to lie, Intel looks strong this year.

Over at Xtremesystems I read that the highest clocked Conroe will be at 3.3 GHz. 3.3 GHz with a very short pipeline (14-16?) and 4 MB L2 cache! I'm pretty excited.

And those new Presslers overclock like mad. Some guy got a 2.8 GHz Pressler up to 4.2 GHz with stock voltage! Load temps in the low 40Cs!

Just don't lie, Intel products have virtues you can extoll without compromising your personal integrity or ethics. Just try to strike a balance, because integrity and ethics are very important, but so is paying the bills and eating regularly :)

I agreed, from Q3 06 to Q3 07, intel seems to have the upper hand, as Conroe will probably be more scalable , and scale past 3.5 easily during 07. While AM2 chips, will need to keep slightly ahead in clock just to equal the performance; but even with a die shrink, they will not likely to be able to scale that much beyond 3.5.

Seems that Intel will have a window of 12 months to catch up, and even "leap ahead"; until K10 arrives, which is due in Q4 of 07, by all indications, with PCIE controller, HTT3.0, on board coprocessor. But until then AMD will probably go through a period of lean time.

I agree with DApunisher

Yeah, we don't need to be blind to facts when we are enthusiasts or work for a certain company. We can certainly all be fair and balanced in the way that we extoll each company's virtues; no need to hide your head in the sand, salesmen who lie will not be happy for long, nor would they have a very fulfilling career.

Maybe you'll begin to notice that Intel actually has many products outside of CPUs and that overall, it's not too bad of a company. On the other side of things, my opinion of them would improve if they gave me a raise already... :p

Yes, I agree. I have always supported AMD, but even though CPU's are not Intel's strong point, plataforms DEFENETLY are, and the market I am focusing loves the "big brand/no problems" philosophy... so that'll be my main point when offering it.

That Intel Original motherboard with ATI Xpress200 is a real sweetheart...

What is your job spec working for Intel, if you don?t mind me asking?

Just wondered what specifically you will be doing. Lol hope you don?t turn into a Rollo on the CPU/OCing forum :p j/k

and congrats on your new job

:)

EDIT: I guess it is marketing and the such, sounds good though

Yes! Product Manager is in charge of promoting the brand he/she is assigned to, receiving SPIFS and compensations in favor of increasing the invocing of the brand's products.

So I would be going with all my company's clients and telling them how wonderful Intel is and convincing them to buy as much as possible.

Amen to that.

By the way, I don't see why cpu's aren't a strong point in intel's product line, given p-m's performance axes. P4 was a mistake. Well, once you get in you'll be able to see the full future lineup.

1 out of 3, pal. AMD rules Server and Desktop in consumer market. This year promises to be different on the notebook side of things for AMD, though Centrino is a really strong plataform in every way.

just make sure you dont tell anyone working under you who might have also applied for your position but didnt get it, do not know you use AMD or prefer AMD. They may be working their way to get you fired.

I wouldnt short change AMD until the AM2 comes out......we'll see how it clocks(and overclocks) and dont forget AMD going 65nm this year too, so I'm thinking AMD is gonna keep it quite competitive, why else would they act like they arent being threatened by Intel's new procs....it doesnt seem likely AMD would sit on their haunches especially with their push for marketshare and et al.

Saying P4 was a mistake is far too broad of a statement IMO. The Prescotts were a disappointment to many, but mainly just because Northwood was such a good proc. At the time I bought my first Northwoood, AMD had nothing in their lineup that could touch the P4's. Only after AMD launched the Athlon64's did they become the rockstars they are now.

yeah, i don't know why everyone thinks that the pentium 4s architecture sucks so much, because it really doesn't. The problem with the P4 isn't that its architecture is bad, its that the process technology never delivered the power savings it should have to allow the P4 to scale up to the frequencies it should have reached. Prescott was suppsoed to reach 6ghz based on its architecture, but the power dissipation envelope smacked it all the way down to 4ghz. The origional designers of hte architecture can't really be blamed for not seeing that five years later they were gonna get screwed over by the crappy 90nm process intel had. Also, once intel reached that platue they should have released a new chip by now insteadd of having us wait 2 years with pretty much no clockspeed improvements. The P4 is currently just an outdated design that was good back when power disipation wasn't an issue, but which should have been retired long ago by intel.

P4 product development screwed up along with project management. The uarch works fine.

Gotta love people who criticize engineering designs that know nothing about.
