I like AMD, but I'm not going to lie, Intel looks strong this year.
Over at Xtremesystems I read that the highest clocked Conroe will be at 3.3 GHz. 3.3 GHz with a very short pipeline (14-16?) and 4 MB L2 cache! I'm pretty excited.
And those new Presslers overclock like mad. Some guy got a 2.8 GHz Pressler up to 4.2 GHz with stock voltage! Load temps in the low 40Cs!

Hi.
I love AMD. Have AMD. Eveything AMD.
Just got a job as Product Manager and I am in charge of the Intel brand, so I have to convince people that Intel rUleZzZ if I want to keep my job and earn money.
That's all I have to say about that.

I agreed, from Q3 06 to Q3 07, intel seems to have the upper hand, as Conroe will probably be more scalable , and scale past 3.5 easily during 07. While AM2 chips, will need to keep slightly ahead in clock just to equal the performance; but even with a die shrink, they will not likely to be able to scale that much beyond 3.5.
Seems that Intel will have a window of 12 months to catch up, and even "leap ahead"; until K10 arrives, which is due in Q4 of 07, by all indications, with PCIE controller, HTT3.0, on board coprocessor. But until then AMD will probably go through a period of lean time.

Amen to that.
By the way, I don't see why cpu's aren't a strong point in intel's product line, given p-m's performance axes. P4 was a mistake. Well, once you get in you'll be able to see the full future lineup.
