I am signed up as a System Builder at AMD and just got an e-mail inviting me to take advantage of the Employee Purchase Program. I never made it on the last ones, for some reason I couldn't get to the right page. I think it was for Retail Employees last time. Anyway, the deal this time is:

AMD Athlon? XP processor 1700+
ASUS A7V266 Motherboard
256MB DDR Memory
Cooler Master Heat sink and fan
Fully assembled

All for $199.00 with $10.00 shipping only good from February 5th to the 13th.

You will have to sign in to your account as a System Builder/Reseller to get in on this, or you might have to get the e-mail, idk.

With all the junk mail that all these companies send, its really tough to tell if you actually get an email offer that's actually worth it like this one.

<< Depends on the RAM... but I'd say warm at the best. >>

Would you consider Samsung chips to be anygood?

Reason I ask is because I just got a stick of DDR memory from Crucial and the chips are Samsung. Not too sure about them. Any input would be appreciated.

well at newegg

AMD Athlon? XP processor 1700+ $124.00
ASUS A7V266 Motherboard $85.00
256MB DDR Memory $71.00
Cooler Master Heat sink and fan $5.00

Total : $285 + ($ 14.19 shipping to CA), thats 299.19, so 210 sounds pretty good.

The ASUS A7A266 is a Socket A DDR motherboard based on the ALi® M1647 chipset. In addition to significantly enhancing system performance with support of the latest DDR SDRAM, the ASUS A7A266 offers flexibility by also supporting PC133 SDRAM. AMD Athlon/Duron processors of 500MHz up to 1.2GHz+ will benefit from the optimal performance delivered by this ATX motherboard, and you'll effortlessly power through today's most demanding applications like never before.

The board is overpriced at NewEgg.com in my honest opinion. It's a good board don't get me wrong just outdated nowadays.

Here is the board spec's: Asus A7V266-E

Actually, it may not be the "E" model. Asus also lists a A7V266 here: Asus A7V266 Looks like the difference is the Raid Controller on the "E". And Newegg doesn't list a new on of it.

And the Ram is Viking 256MB PC2100 DDR

i clicked on several links and all i found was to sign up as a amd reseller, i searched the site for system builder and there was some not so great information and no sign up. Is being an amd partner/reseller qualify you to partcipate in the Employee Purchase Program?

If this motherboard was the kt266a version, it would be a great deal, but the kt266 chipset was a piece of crap. the E version of the motherboard is one of the best kt266a's you can buy. But the price of the cpu and motherboard itself go for about 200 alone.

I'm registered and logged in to the Reseller Channel at www.amd.com but I can't find anything about this system. How did you find it? Is there a link in your email? If so, could you please post the http?

Thanks!

I'm running that setup right now, it's kingston memory, can't remember the chips, the kt266 a7v board is solid, it's a nice setup IMO for the price but since then CPU prices have plummeted, at the time of the deal remember that the XP1700 was at around 140 shipped.

I know I am going to sound like an A$$hole, but you should NOT be posting this information. As an AMD Reseller, I too received the email with the option of purchasing the kit. But what happens when you post it in a Hot Deals section is that it gets abused, and people who should be getting the kits, RESELLERS, will not be able to. Also, if AMD notices abuse, they will not offer it any more. :| In the future be glad that AMD offers these kits to QUALIFIED RESELLERS and keep it to yourself.

Flame away.

I agree don't abuse.

I got on this deal in Dec. and got my rebate a couple days ago, so $210 after rebate. This is a better deal since you don't have to wait for a rebate.
