Hey Once AMD goes 65nm next year what is going to be the difference?(newbie question) is it going to perform better?. Can some tell me the difference between the x2 now and the ones with the new socket. I read an article and it seems the new ones will support ddr-2. What the difference betwwen the 2?

Too much speculation and rumor to pinpoint any specifics right now.

We know AMD is moving to a new socket - dubbed M2 - in 2006. And that it will utilize DDR2. And rumor has it AMD will scrap M2 and DDR2 by 2007, electing for a new socket and DDR3. Time will tell.

As for DDR2, it is lower voltage, higher speed DIMMs. Right now the latencies are a tad bit high, but it will get better.
