I may buy a Fury X if the reviews are good, it comes with a way to hook up a DL-DVI monitor, and I can swing a good deal while selling my 290X.

Hey guys should I spend $550 on a vanilla Fury + $500 freesync 1440p IPS acer or $650 on a 980Ti and $800 gsync 1440p IPS acer?

I mean yeah you spend a little more on nvidia but I think there's definitely $400 benefit there?

I was thinking about replacing 290 CF with a Fury, but I was hoping to use my DVI-only 27" 1440p monitor a little longer until the 40" 4k market settles down. It'll probably hold off until AMD gets the monitor outputs sorted, or look at something like the Galax 980Ti HOF if it isn't stupidly more than a reference 980Ti.

Im in the exact same boat. I feel like Freesync/Gysnc hasn't been settled yet and the best is still to come so hanging on to my DVI only Korean. I guess I could get an adapter and settle for 60hz, but why should I when I can get native DVI and 96hz from a 980ti?

Nvidia's Maxwell display output config is really nice. you have the 3 displayports for surround gsync if you want (or surround 4k) but also hdmi 2.0 for 4k tv's and DL DVI for us Korean owners. They really covered all the bases with their config.

HDMI 1.4 on the Fury so no 4k 60Hz for people with TV's? That's a big slap in the face to the very market segment that would be buying the card. What a bonehead move!

Is this confirmed? Because that kills the whole card for me.

HDMI 1.4 is odd, because Carrizo is supposed to have 2.0 with the same GCN and UVD. But again, Tonga was also 1.4.

Dont fear tho, DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 adapters should come in Q3-Q4.

Fury X is an automatic day-one buy for me if the rumored reviews are true. It'd be good to replace my 27" DVI monitor as well.

My 7970 is getting long in the tooth, so I plan to upgrade later this summer. Will definitely wait for the Fury X reviews and then see what its release does to prices.

I made a thread in the displays section with this exact concern. For those of us on DLDVI monitors.

100% agreed.

Having to buy adapters occasionally is just part of the game when you're an enthusiast, as far as I'm concerned.
