I tried it and it gave maybe a few FPS- not dramatic but hey it's a start.
 
link for hotfix not working. a few fps is huge in crysis since that is the game that 3870 did worst in vs 8800gt. seriously, a big crysis improvement will go a long way towards closing the gap btwn 8800gt and 3870 so, yes, that's important.
 
Link updated, after reading over at Rage3d that it works better if you install it OVER THE TOP of 7.10 I tried it and without any scientific exploration (not enough time on my part) I got about +2-4fps walking around, good stuff indeed!
 
I get no performance boost from 7.10 to the hotfix drivers. I ran the GPU benchmark on both several times and ~32fps average either way (1024x768, shaders=high, rest=medium, no fsaa)
 
Try in game and see if theres any impact, IMO the ingame GPU bench is not really representative of performance as it disregards some aspects of the game only visible in an action situation (explosions, physics impact etc).
