EETimes article

"Cray (Seattle, Wash.) will continue to use AMD?s 64-bit Opteron processors for its future supercomputer lines. In addition, the two companies will collaborate on Cray's mid-2006 proposal for Phase 3 of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa) contract...The computers are targeted to run at sustained speeds of one petaflop (million-billion calculations per second) or more by the end of the decade"

And you guys thought your X2s were fast... :)

1,000,000 (aka 1mhz) x 1,000,000,000 (aka 1ghz) = 1,000,000,000,000,000 aka 1 petahertz!

thats about the same as 357,143 fx-57's in terms of pure hertz! ridiculous.

The Audigy drivers will probably crash it, but I hear that you will finally be able to run BF2 with no CPU limitations...

Imagine, 32 BF2 programs all up at once, all at your control....... You could fight the battle on your own with a 32x firing trigger :)
