amd-cpu mountin

hey all,

i am the process of mountin the cpu to the mobo, my ? is how much artic ceramique paste do i apply, in laymans terms (unlike 1mm) and to the cpu and the mobo or just the cpu? thanks!

Look at a sheet of notebook paper or cheap printer paper. The compound should be only about that thick on the core. When applying it to the heatsink itself, there should only be a haze. You might think "Hey, I just wiped it all off!" but there is still some residue, which is key. 😎

I thought "mountain" was spelled wrong and the guy had a stack of AMD processors he was selling or something.

Yes, remove any existing compound. Most people use >70% Isopropyl Alcolhol to do the cleaning.

acetone or nail polish remover works well too

also, googone is great.

All of which leave a residue and a final cleaning with alcohol should be done.

This stuff will remove just about anything, almost instantly, and doesn't harm the cpu surface. I clean with this, then with alcohol. And no, I'm not affiliated, just an avid user. 🙂
