AMD cpu bus speed search.

It used to be I could navigate AMD's site to get the info I need. Now it just sucks!
I have an AMD K6-2/266 in an A-trend ATC5010M board. The bios setting for pci and FSB was set to 83/83.That made the cpu look like a 333.Well,the system crashed hard on the customer and I fixed it last week by re installing ther OS.I discovered it had no room on the HDD to run even a swap file,so now it is back and I tripled hids storage. Why I had the case open,I peak at the CPU and discover it is a 266. The customer bought it used from someone who apperently tried to overclock and that is what set the problems in motion.

My question is "What is the FSB setting for a K6-2/266?" It defualts to 66 mghz. it is ajustable in bios. I just want the right setting.
Also the date now says today is sunday.WTF? bios update?

Its a 66mhz bus. 66mhz * 4.

The date thing...maybe the person changed the date in windows? It changes the bios settings when you do so...

BurntKooshie,
(Hmmmmmmm.New format.Zuni's at work.)

I had a brain fart.I was putting in the date as sept 10,2000 and wanting it to be today.I changed to 8th and all is well.Try as I might,I just can't timewarp yet.

No the puter will not soft reboot.I have searched Msoft knoeledgebase till I'm sick of reading. After updating bios,I am ready to try something else,I just don't know what.

wait....i'm not quite sure what your problem is then....

You can't change the multiplier on it? Nor the bus speed? Usually on socket 7 boards there are jumpers for those....

I'm just a bit confused

I discovered the cpu was overclocked to 333 and therefor corrupted the hdd. Now that I know it is a 266 I needed the fsb setting. It defaults to 66mghz.I am staying with that. When it hit my bench,It was 83 mghz fsb.I tore into it to discover the O/C chip and now have reset it to it's proper settings, however, now I can not do a soft reboot. I am confused.
To be safe,I updated bios. That did not fix it. I used the Msoft knowledge base to no avail. I am stumped. It is not a major problem, but I know something is wrong and needs to be fixed.I do not want to give it back to the customer only half fixed.
