It's all an illusion. See, Apple's motives to put OS X on Intel was just a big stunt to show thick-headed PeeCee weenies how great their OS really is by purposely leaking it to the public and to slowly spread the beauty of it by making it appear as if it was unintentional. Once PeeCee weenies download the leaked version, they will quickly realize how superior their OS is and eventually switch, and propagate their evangelism to as many people as possible..much like a virus. Now once PeeCee weenies are sold, Apple quickly kills the Intel project forcing billions to switch to better hardware, the PPC platform. Apple profits and destroys the evil empire known as Micro$haft and takes over the world. Genius!

ummm ... AMD should be worried .....

Intels next generation of processors and chips look pretty promising ... while AMD's future plans seem kind of like ... meh ...

Intel is stepping up its game

Don't worry, Intel will manage to fsck it up somehow.

True and yet they will maintain a 80% market share cause AMD sucks at marketing.

Dell.

I'll probably give in next time I build a system though... dual core/64bit is tempting...

I also hate AMD, because I enjoyed paying over 1000 bucks for a processor.

Maybe this will get AMD some more public attention. If all goes well, then good for AMD. But, if mishaps happen, then it won't be good for a company many people might not know about.

Smart move on AMD. This is a rare opportunity where they have a significant performance advantage and so they better milk it dry before Intel releases its next generation chips.

You're being sarcastic right? If not, then well, yeah. Anyway...

As far as the processors, yes AMD at the moment kicks a$$, however, I have to agree with raildogg Intel has some pretty impressive designs coming up in the next couple years. The market might get interesting again for those how like to push the limits, but if I was buying now it would be AMD.

I like processors from both companies. But you have to think about it. AMD will continue gasping for air as they watch Intel dominate sales in America and the rest of the world.
As Intel grimly watches AMD's CPU's taking heavier plight into profound performance in applications, the line has been drawn even since P4's were killing the early AMD lines back in the 1 GHz days. Now, we will have to watch Intel play things out like ATI, a new Radeon series and crossfire is still waiting itself out. Intel's new line of processors should be as equally impressive as AMD's dual core CPU's, if not to the enthusiasts... to share holders of Intel. Somebody pray for AMD.

Intel won't fvck it up, they just won't produce what they are saying. And yes, they will maintain at least 3/4 of the market because AMD DOES suck at marketing.

And then the next time intel can kick AMD's ass i'm sure they will make a challenge as well. Competition is good so i'm not complaining.

EH? AMD hasn't had a significant performance shortfall since the K6 days.

In the battle for ridiculous heat output and power consumption, Intel wins hands down.

performance leadership is only good for bragging rights, the main challenge is competing with intel's marketing/advertising power
