Fresh leak out today, not much is known but at least 8cu's is confirmed. Probably an engineering sample, core count is unknown and clocks may not be final.

This is very interesting to me because cezanne is seemingly 8cu only, and it seems unlikely to me that AMD could squeeze any more performance out of vega. A cpu only upgrade of renoir may be lackluster compared to tigerlake's quite large GPU.

What do you guys think? Will zen 3 be a large enough improvement in APU form? Will it have full cache? Are there more than 8cus? Has AMD truly evolved vega yet again or is it more like rdna?

Yes, 2x8GB DDR4-4400 is 100% single rank. Only dual rank 8GB modules existing are old ones with 4Gbit ICs from early DDR4 era, those are phased out and not capable of 4400 speeds. 4x8GB would make memory dual rank but 4400 might not be achievable.

Finally unboxed my Ryzen 3 5400U (Lenovo L14 Gen 2).

Haven't tried any games yet but here are some synthetics. Almost 7700K territory at ~20 watts. This is with substandard 2666mhz CL19 (2x 8GB). When things settle down I'm going to get a 3200mhz CL18 kit which should add a bit more performance (mostly in games).

Browsing various i5 12400 tests, Twekers offers several interesting results.We can see a couple of interesting results in favor of the R5 5600G.

- 3D Rendering, in Fusion 360 red is faster vs i5 12400 and R5X

Fusion 360 is not very commonly used testing software.

DaVinci Resolve is also not very commonly used testing software.Adobe tools are always used for testing, but hey Davinci Resolve it actually offers a very capable free version.

Because the CPU doesnt get above 72W.
65W on average for Prime 95, thoses PL1/PL2 are well above the actual power.

My son has an Asus scar 5900hx + 6800m laptop and there's not much of a practical game performance difference between balanced, performance and turbo in the Asus tools. He just keeps Windows in balanced mode almost all the time as it stays very quiet with very high frame rates at 1080p.

There is also a R7 5800 around.
So... AMD wants to push non 3d Vermeers out of production and move everything to Cezanne? Keep 5500/5600 Cezannes and the R7 5700X/5800 is the same Veermer die whiout 3D? 5700X may be Cezanne too.

That should be an excellent budget contender if it has the full L2 available. As you mention Cezanne also has a very good memory controller, so expect decent memory overclocks.

Only using good 8 MB L3 dies would help differentiate it a bit more from the 5600, esp if it's going to be $50 different. But it could be 16 too.

Too bad its a poor fit for their budget video card, the 6500xt. Being restricted to PCIe 3 is going to make that a poor fit.

It's encouraging to see them keep 4*00 series naming for Zen 2 parts. I think it was a major mistake to label 5500U, 5700U as 5*00 series.

Not sure why they did it here and not there but... AMD :rolleyes:
