I think these latest AMD 49 series drivers are CRAP.

WTF are these AMD Software Writers trying to achieve?

how many amd gpu are you running and which amd gpu?

just wanted to make sure we were comparing apples to apples.



290x x4 on one machine pushing 5760x1080.
the laundry lists on this machine requires much patience.
amd support is also worthless.
so definitely four day late and four dollar short.

as for the 680 4GB x3 it replace. there was issue too, but it never left me game less. nvidia support is okay too. at least they "reply" to support requests with half-working bandages.


280x on four other machine pushing 1920x1080.
on ALL four machine. aside from the random no-wake bug during windows (which required a reboot) and the random no display bug during boot (which required another reboot).
for the most part - it works. (imho - simple setup like this should be totally bug free)

as for the three 680 2GB and one 580 1.5GB it replace. there was absolutely ZERO issue.



lastly. by disabling crossfire and running a single 290x pushing 5760x1080. it will runs fine all day. twice on weekends.
sadly a single 290x will only deliver ~30fps at ultra / ~60fps at medium. some of us only game at ultra setting with 60fps minimum. :biggrin:

btw. what kind of setting are you gaming on 4k. also what kind of fps are you getting?

Well thats your problem. I've never had an issue with a single card. In fact my setup at 4k is better than my friends at 1080p with a 580 3gb due to drivers with nvidia. Don't forget about the Physx bug with BL2 and BLPS. Oh not to mention Ryse issues.Don't run a configuration that 1% of people have and you won't have an issue. 2 cards is MORE than enough to push 4k. 3 is pointless and 4 is even more pointless. But besides that...

I game at max settings besides AA. I don't notice a difference in games. I disable motion blur if that counts because I don't like it. I get around 25-35 FPS in AAA games.

Did I mention the bug with the 970's where they don't SLI properly and you actually have to overvolt to get their frequencies in line? Sorry it just irritates me when people complain about AMD's drivers.

Motion blur is terrible. It makes everything feel like its in slow motion. AA is not necessary at 4k. Should I show you screen shots? I'll do it with any one of my games at 4k to prove its not necessary. I'm just not an elitist.

imho - motion blur adds smoothness (at 60fps minimum).

as for the need for AA. like to see a SAME size side by side.

example.
24" 1920x1080 w/ AA
vs
24" 3840x2160 no AA

Can't give you the same size. I came from a 23 inch 1080p monitor to a 28 inch 4k monitor.

Following my problems with the 14.9 and 14.9.1, I decided to do a clean install of my OS (win7 X64) since the installation was more than 2,5 years old.

After the installation completed I installed the 14.9.1 and tried running some stuff.

I received instant freeze with crossfire enabled on my 7950s. I pissed my pants thinking that my secondary card was broken. Couldn't explain it otherwise although the same was happening on the previous installation.

I also got some BSODs with 14.9.1 with varying stop errors, which also made me piss my pants, thinking my RAM was bad.

Reverted to 14.7 rc3 and now everything works fine.

I will have to use the system more, just to be sure, but so far it seems the driver is a total mess.

I haven't had to rollback a driver since my Radeon 8500, which is of course a good thing, but I wonder why now.

I almost wish I have some bad RAM, because a broken memory stick I can fix. A broken AMD driver team I cannot.

I have a pair of 7970's and have the same problem with 14.9 and 14.9.1

I have to say that this is a real embarrassment for AMD. I feel really bad for you guys with expensive setups and high end cards that won't work properly.

I somehow got really lucky and my 280x has been flawless on all of the drivers I have used.
