yeah i was reading about that yesterday, all i can say is it must not be a common bug cause ive never had the problem with any of my duron/athlon's or heard of anyone having it.

I find it odd that it only affects JPGs/pictures. I would have thought that if the maths-part is somehow iffy (I assume this is caused by wrong decompression calculation) that this would affect other things as well ... SETI & other mathematical things.

From what I have been able to determine:

It's no big deal. Testing has fished out the bad units some time ago and the cause was a manufacturing errata that responded to a certain sequence of instuctions that MS used. You'll notice that the only applications that had difficulty were MS programs. My guess is that this probably occured in such a low number of units that AMD's wondering why people are even talking about it.

Heck, I'm not worried...I mean...i have a 1.2ghz tbird coming sooon...if it has the defect, this Duron runs fine at 1ghz...hehehehehe
