I can't believe you aren't putting Linux on it, Red Squirrel!

That actually crossed my mind. Would be easier than windows and trying to hunt for all the drivers. But it turned out the issue went away on it's own (it would just sit at a black screen when booting up) and after some basic cleanup it's good to go!

Downside of putting Linux on someone else's machine is having to support it, in some cases there are the oddball things or quircks that happen which can require hours of googling to figure out why it's happening. Dealing with an issue of my own at home, and it's that I can't print from most web pages, but it's very sporadic. I don't print much so usually I just take a screenshot and print from Gimp or in some cases I can export to PDF, but some PDFs fail too. That is not something that would be acceptable if it was someone else I had to support.

LOL at 700MHz is enough...

I have a Fujitsu laptop circa 2003. It has 512MB RAM and runs XP. It's a backup controller for a mixer. I fired it up a few months ago and youtube kills it. Anything over 480P chokes it with 100% cpu utilization. Ridiculous. It has a 1.3GHz Pentium M (Banias) cpu.

Longest lasting chip I had was a Q6600. Lasted a bunch of years actually. OC'd like a champ as well.

Yes those were good if you had a G0 Kentsfield. I had one that was prime stable at 1.35V at 3.6GHz with the stock cooler. And it was warm bouncing off the limit at 99C.

Yep it was a G0 stepping. I found a shop that had lots of G0's and so went with it, and that's what I got.

I still have a Q6700 in production here at home. I started moving stuff off it to a VM and then got side tracked with other stuff. Used to be my "main" sever but now it only does email, which is the more complicated thing to move.

My "good" computer is an e6600. I need to get around to building another, but this one works well enough to make it not a priority.

My Athlon II X4 640 is still humming right along. 3.0 and quad core....I'm having a hard time justifying an upgrade.
