AMD ATHLON XP 2000+ Cheap!!

We should take the crack racks, convert them into regular computers make an internet cafe, connect a laundromat section, and have regular drinks, and lan turnament to switch the internet computers over at times.
Then funds from profits etc can back more cafes and hence more computers to run DC in the background.

Dang. I've got a ton of those ECS boards in desktops I've built this year at work. I only paid $53 for them new, but $35 works too even if it is a refurb. Those boards aren't for overclocking, but they're cheap, take SD or DDR ram and seem to be pretty stable.

Too bad I'm trying to pay my car off a year early... Ugh!

AMD Breaks HP Barrier

AMD got a boost Tuesday, as Hewlett-Packard ( NYSE: HPQ - news) said it would include one of the Athlon chips in a desktop PC used in mid-sized businesses -- the first time one of the major OEMs has committed to include AMD chips in business desktop machines.

Traditionally, commercial PC buyers have been reluctant to purchase non-Intel-based computers. AMD's deal with HP could help reverse that trend.

Look for the chip to be a AX1600DMT3C - AGOIA0213 , that series chip with the AGOIA designation supposedly can crank the FSB way up to the same level as 2000's and 2200's.

My first Computer upgrade in 2 years (everybody knows why) arrived today. I just popped in the AGAIO 1600 XP chip in place of my old trusty original 1 gig Athlon. The chipped cranked right up at 1.53 G at 292 FSB. Not shabby for a $50 upgrade. I did not do anything to the Multiplier Bridges on the chip (Have to get a kit). I only have PC2100 in my old ASUS A7A266 board that isn't known for Overclocking but it is stable. Very cool to see the benchmark programs showing over 2.1 G performance 🙂

I know not exciting but another sign of me coming back from a very bad brink.
