Now I just need a motherboard for this and 4gb of OCZ DDR2-6400 from Outpost (also in the Hot Deals forum).

Good find, I just bought a 5600+ for $178 at Newegg. The 5600+ is a 89w part and so far I have gotten it to 3214mhz. I have not tried upping the voltage. This is a 125w part, not sure how high it will go. The two highest rated motherboards seem to be the DFI 590 and the Asus one which one the editor's choice here in the 'AM2 roundup' (but then the buyer's guide later on started recommending the DFI).

That's a good price. I must have missed the post on price cuts. Is there an official AMD price cut soon?

I'm with you as my 5600 is at 3.0 on stock cooling and stock voltage. Haven't even tried anything else. It is also very! fast!

This is a great find on the 6000.

Hold off a little longer. Word on the street is that AMD will slash CPU prices by up to 40% next month in response to Intel's 40-60% cuts.

Upgrade and sell off your old components to offset the cost! 😉

Exactly what I am doing 🙂

I wanted 4gb Ram (running xp64) and a faster processor. With DDR2 so cheap and almost no X2-939s, it is not worth sticking with 939.

Pretty amazing prices. Newegg had the top of the line Foxconn AM2 board last week for 100.00 AR, combine that with the excellent Crucial DDR2 ram, about 80.00 AR for 2GB, and the 6000+ X2 for 186.00. Total of 366.00 for the board, ram, and CPU. That's some serious processing for little dough. Intel might be a better choice for those who overclock though.

My wife would kill me if I did this again 🙂 My X2-4200 is holding its own for now and I can always get another 2GB of DDR from a friend.

Meh, my X1950 Pro AGP 512mb and Athlon 64 4000+ with 2gb corsair XMS PC3200 ram can run all my games at max details with 16X AF, no point in upgrading for me really, this CPU would help with ripping, encoding, and compiling times, but the added expense is not justified to do a full "upgrade," plus, I have never sold online before so no one will want to buy from me.

I just started selling online too, what I did was I offered to ship first if the other person had good feedback.

Like ebay account feedback? I just dont feel comfortable shipping before I receive payment. Any legit businesses that can act as an intermediate, like they take the payment from the buyer, I ship it to said business, when they get it they ship it to the person who bought it and transfer the payment to me?

I would suggest shipping first only to members with over say 100 heat.

(6700 is more $, but that aside...)

Overall, E6700 is better but for $186 the X2 6000+ represents a better value. X2 6000+ is comparable to the E6600.

You have a ridiculous amount of post... I am sure people won't be scared to do half now half later if you want to sell something..
