AMD Athlon 64 X2 - 2.3GHz vs 2.4GHz

Does anyone know the difference between these two Athlons besides the 0.1GHz?

I'd think the 2.4GHz would be slightly higher priced.

The 2.3GHz is listed as a Brisbane. The 2.4 doesn't mention what core type, and I can't find ADO4600DOBOX on AMD's site, unless I just missed it.

Is the Brisbane really "better", even though it's 0.1GHz less speed?

The 4600+ has a higher multiplier, so it is really better. I don't see any difference between these two processors, so I would go with the faster one. The 4600+ just doesn't have as much information listed as the 4400+ for some reason.

edit: Sometimes they price better processors for less, to get rid of stock; in this case they are just the same price.

AFAIK the X2 4600+ is 90nm Windsor - but 65w. The X2 4400+ is 65nm Brisbane 65w.

With the X2 4600+ your ram will run at stock 800MHz. With the X2 4400+ your ram at stock will run 767MHz (2300 / 6 = 383.33 x 2 = 766.66MHz)

If you OC - NM - fuggitaboutit ...

Newegg shows it as a 65nm processor, so the 4600+ should be a Brisbane too unless they posted the wrong information.

I could be mistaken but I don't believe AMD made a 4600+ cpu based on 65nm cores. I thought all the 4600+ am2 versions were 90nm. But the latest 90nm steppings are rated at 65 watt.

Edit: I checked AMDs selection tool and it only shows a 4600+ using 90nm tech. So the 4600+ is almost surely to be 90nm and Not 65nm.

Just thought I'd post back for anyone interested in knowing.

I purchased the 4600+ 2.4GHz. The OPN Tray number or whatever it's called marked on the processor is;

ADO4600IAA5DO

I don't find this anywhere on AMD's find and compare specs site.

Got it installed, loaded up cpuz, and it identifies it as a Brisbane core and 65nm technology, 65W.

Strange how AMD doesn't have this one listed on their site. Is this a newer release or something?
