Does AMD even make the Clawhammer cores anymore? I thought they moved away from this. If I'm right, these won't last too long. Newegg took the Clawhammers off their site around last June/July.

yeah i heard they dont make the 3400 1mb cpu, or cpu's any more. the 939 dual channle is the future i read some were?

In AMDs the cache size is not that important so it may be at par at best with the Newcastle. With Newcastle, you are paying for a newer core and any enhancements that were added to it.

Newcastles run a little faster to make up for the less cache. They are faster in somethings and not in others. 754 format will have a shorter life then 939. I have a 754. I tend to upgrade MB and CPU at the same time, so its not a big factor to me.

I thought I read somewhere that AMD is going to stop manufacturing 754s this year, after the second quarter or something. Geez, so soon. I'm still running Socket A! Hey guys, are the 64bit setups really that much faster? I'm running a mobile xp at 2.5 at 1.725Vcore. With khx3500, I'm running them at 2-2-2-5. It seems pretty fast to me. How much faster?

newegg DID carry this at a lower price. i was watching it for a pretty long time. it was OEM and the price went from ~$220 to ~230 last i checked (about a month ago). and yes, it was the 1mb cache version.

edit: it may have been retail actually. been broke and watching it so long i don't remember.
