amd athlon 1900+ retail fan

i am planning on getting the retail version that comes with the processor. i got question, does the fan heatsink come with the thermal pad on the bottom of the heatsink?

I recently bought the 1800+ retail and that came with the thermal pad on the HS... I'd assume that the 1900+ will also.

and an addendum: how does the retail HS/F compare with some of the other models that can be bought separately - is it adequate? better than adequate? etc... should I shell out for something better? I'm not a hardcore OC'er but I may experiment a little.

I'm actually going to buy a 1900 soon, and my plan is to buy another heatsink fan unit, scrape off the pink pad and use Arctic Silver thermal grease. Much better conductivity, and yes, the fan -h/s is much better than the stock. look here for a good one. It seems to be recommended alot here. Here

Retail always comes with some sort of thermal pad/adhesive. And it is always adequate for the normal user. It is not adequate for an overclocker.

I bought retail, but I replaced the little-eeny-weeny fan on it with a 60mm Sunon. Works fine, I may go with a Copper HSF when I decide to overclock.
