Alot of java games for smartphones on the PC. What a victory.

And I dont think something like AMDs system monitor is that highly GPU dependent.

Not to mention, please show me the 1000s of GPU accelerated applications. Because that site barely got 100. And thats mostly games like Tower Defence....

Gotta love the lies!

Correct IE was the first to use the GPU for hardware acceleration of everything not just java script. MS used open APIs so Firefox copied the method.

Would it be possible for the thousands of malware apps to be directed at Windows?

With this on a pc, kids would just go nuts downloading everything like they do on their phones.

Windows 8 is near-virus proof and after Windows 7 gets the platform upgrade Windows 7 as will be near-virus proof.

Hahaha....that was sarcasm right?
Sadly, it wasn't Windows 8 has several anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-worm, anti-magic, anti-friendship, anti-pony, anti-rootkits, anti-trojanhorse, etc, software pre-installed into every system.

Rather than lock these thread I have cleansed it of all of the crap posts from piesquared and Ferzerp.

If you two continue this petty argument in this thread or any other CPU forum threads, I will vacation you. You're grown adults, so knock it off.

I like the idea of AppZone, but this current incarnation is a joke. Have we sunken so low that Android applications are now the highlight of the PC computing experience? To be mixed willy-nilly with proper PC games like Deus Ex and Sleeping Dogs?

I'm sorry, but this is AMD blatantly padding out their application count by listing everything that runs in an Android emulator. Those aren't PC applications and they definitely aren't applications making significant use of AMD's APUs.

It makes sense on a Windows 8 tablet since it gives Windows 8 tablets (well AMD tablets) a lot more touch enabled apps.

I was pretty ecstatic today since suddenly you could run (android) apps on your computer. The installation was simple, just download and install an app, and it automatically downloads the main AppZone program. (x4 + 5670 so I was set)

After using the program, it was more than underwhelming and felt like a rushed product. I didn't give much time to learn it whole so take the following with a grain of salt. It didn't feel smooth for comparatively little apps running on a desktop, not all apps seemed to be on the main program, some cool apps were on the sidebar where the app advertisements are (which was ugly and couldn't be turned off). The program wasn't intuitive, multi-tasking was iffy. The program couldn't be turned off (unless you kill it in the task manager). It provides notifications from the taskbar which minimized my full screen game : (.

I like to give programs more than a single chance, but unfortunately not this one. The fruit slashing game was fun though.

Still, the AppZone Player is extremely solid, and Android apps offered through AMD and Bluestacks will undoubtedly offer less problems than those found on Amazon and Google.... at least, for now. On the emulator's Home screen, users are greeted with a list of recommendations lined along the right side, and a strip along the bottom offers the typical Back, Menu, Home and Settings buttons. There's also a button to take a snapshot and share it on Facebook and Twitter.

"Users can download featured apps directly from within the AMD AppZone Player or search for apps across the built-in app store. In addition, AMD and BlueStacks are currently working with leading OEMs to preload the AppZone Player on upcoming AMD powered devices," AMD said.

Its huge. I bet intel didn't see this coming. I expect some pretty big announcements leading up to the Win8 launch from AMD.

For Intel it doesn't matter as the new atom is as bad as you say . It won't matter.
A 9 watt haswell has my interest tho. These new tablets some will actually have real power of a PC . These aren't Apple toys or flash gamers. Haswell will kickass at the highend tablet market. As for Medfield it must be as bad as clover leaf screw up. you alude to. Intel just needs to fold up its 1 horse show and leave the market.
