Simply put, what does it mean? To have a amd motherboard, is it absolutely necessary to have an amd approved power supply?

No you dont have to have a approved psu. It just means amd tested it and it will work with there parts.......But remember the amd parts need lots of clean power..

So would a 300 watt p/s be good enough to run an o/c duron and the other essentials?

Edit: Would this be a good enough case/power supply to use in a duron o/c setup?

You should be fine however a friend of mine is using a Generic 300w on a 900mhz Thunderbird with no problems,if you want to be 100% safe get a AMD approved PSU,however note the Duron is not power hungry like the Thunderbird when it comes to PSU.

damn, what a nice case:) As for Power supply...why skimp on it? It could very well be the difference between stability and insanity. Enermax is what I highly recommend.
