the latest AMD Opteron(TM) 6300 series processors built on 32nm "Piledriver" microarchitecture
It is still Piledriver based...
I suppose than that is Warsaw. Any news on what improvements it brings? Possibily it should have some refining that allows it to reach higher Frequencies or lower power consumption like Richland vs Trinity improvements even through they are both Piledriver based. Not sure if that was thanks to Resonant Clock Mesh or not.
I never said otherwise, that is why I said "I suppose than that is Warsaw".Duhhh.
It was always supposed to be PileDriver based. Look at the slide.
Operteron does not exist.AMD announces new Operterons
What i find pretty amazing is that the 16-Core processor is only 95W TDP.
I imagine this would be the most affordable way to do some heavy-duty Folding@Home (BigAdv?)

Actually it would be checking ebay. You can get a 24 core Core2-based system (4x 6-core) for $500-$800.
wouldn't two $120 x5660's be more powerful though?
Ahhh, NO. My 2 6234's and motherboard cost me $1200, while my 2 E5639's and motherboard (SR-2 no less) cost $600, and the 5639's beat the opterons. Mind you the 5639's are @2.8 while the 6234's are at 2.4, but they have 24 cores vs the Intel has 24 threads, but the Intel setup wins.I imagine this would be the most affordable way to do some heavy-duty Folding@Home (BigAdv?)
x5660's for under $200
I'm actually surpised, I looked a few days ago and these were all around that price...
Apparently those are engineering samples. Legit X5660s may or may not be found for under $200, but I don't think those qualify.
