the stock market leads job growth

the stocks are rising on the anticipation of higher profits due to higher future growth

hiring won't happen until later, employment lags the rise of the stock

in theory

flash and chips have done a sinusoidal flip

ex: 128mb smartmedia went from $50 a year ago, to $21 6 months ago, to $41 now
chips are moving off the production lines and ASP's are up as AMD phased out the unprofitable duron line (why buy athlon for 50% more when the performace diff is 2%?)

HP beat the street by a penny which bodes well for AMD, since HP carries many of AMD chips unlike dell.

AMD went from having only 6 months of cash left, to practically certain profitabilty now, hence its stock price has jumped in the past 3 months. now they're building another fab in dresden where the unemployment rate is 13%, silly europeans how come the euro so strong...

if u want fast growth and sorta internet exposure, go with etrade, p/e ratio under 15 and priced half that of its competitors: ameritrade and schwab

if u want safety and a big tax free dividend: bank of america pays a whopping 4.3% dividend and p/e ratio 10

or if ur lazy but still want to ride with the big boys, go with Nasdaq aggregate QQQ, its like having a no-load mutual fund
