I hereby proclaim to have sex with the first 65nm processor I lay my hands on.

cool. probablly will come out with m2 socket coming up for amd. o and kamranziadar, u really overclocked ur opteron 165 dual to 2.8 ghz
from 1.8ghz? thats kinda hard to believe. what kind of cooling do u use? that doesn't seem possible.

From his signature: Thermaltake BigWater SE

lol, did you read the threads about Opteron Overclocking? Every thing i am using is in my signature.

The cooling i am using is Thermaltake BigWater SE, which is a cool looking water cooling setup.

My Motherboard is MSI Neo4 Plantium SLI excellent motherboard for all type of users.

FSB= 312 * 9 = 2.8GHZ

AMD and IBM seem to make a pretty good team, hopefully they keep finding ways to increase performance and decrease power usage. :)

AMD needs all the help it can have to stay competitive since they still dont have enough money to compete alone in process technology

40% increase in performance! Wow.. AMD always tweaking for better IPC. Add the PCIe and the rest of the chipset to chip... assuming they get low power out of it like intel seems to be doing AMD may even maintain it's lead well into 2007.

Whoa, that's the sex. Well, when those puppies come out in Socket M2 and there are DirectX 10 cards to be had, I hearby swear to upgrade my computer.

watch the pins...

He could get ahold of a 65nm pressler which would take the pins out of the equation...

Interesting... Sounds like a BiCMOS process from that press release (though I doubt AMD or IBM use much in the way of bipolars for their CPUs). Either way, they're late to the party, Intel is about to mass produce processors on their 65nm process and they are already talking about the 45nm node. I hope that AMD and IBM stay on the ball and don't fall too far Intel on the process front.

AMD has a history of being behind Intel when it comes to die shrinks. This is the main reason they have teamed up with IBM, the just dont have the resources to compete on their own.

By the looks of things, the only advantage Intel will have is that they will be shipping 65nm Yonah CPUs which seem to do well with how much power it draws. The true test will be when a reviewer gets a hold of a Yonah and tries to overclock it.

If they can blow past the current A64 / Opteron overclocks then 65nm will be an advantage until AMD rolls their own. If the Yonah can only come close or slighlty better than current 90nm AMDs, then Intel will be in trouble when 65nm K8s are released.

AMD and IBM already have hand tooled and working silicon at both 45nm and 32nm from East Fishkill (announced sometime in April IIRC)...
Remember that AMD is building another Fab in 2006, most likely for the 32nm EUV parts due in 2008-9.

Well Anand got their Presler to 4.5ghz stable on air, I wouldn't mind having one with my water cooling..I'd gladly replace my POS 830D with a presler, and I want to replace my Dothan with a dual core yonah. I wouldn't replace my X2 for anything.

I had a Venice 3000+ @ 2.8ghz and it did 2.9ghz, My board just didn't have the HTT to do it..

lol, investors don't care who has the fastest processor, or who has the best technology, there care who makes money and so far thats Intel, not AMD.
