If they make a 20nm gpu with 8 billion transistors and 8GB of 1 TB/s RAM, they better add 4 x86 cores to it. Then all they need to do is add a few usb ports and a couple sata ports and the video card becomes a complete system.

Why do you think that NVidia is putting ARM cores into Maxwell? 😉

And yes, as Erenhardt said, the consoles are basically what you just described. I'd like to see Intel's take on it; a massive GT4 GPU, with eDRAM cache, and a pair of Broadwell cores driving it. It'd make one hell of a gaming HTPC chip.
