Can anyone tell me what this patch does? I'm running a DFI AK75-EC board...should I use it? System runs fine except for the random, and very occasional lock up in some games. Is there anything VIA 4in1 related that I should uninstall (the VIA AGP 4X TURBO item for example) before applying this AMD patch?

Thanks
Tom

look here.
you don't need it if you've got SP2 installed!
as for your lockups, you could try reinstalling the AGP driver in normal mode vs turbo to see if it stabilises your system.

AFAIK, XP incorporates a version of AMD 4in1 drivers and the AMD AGP patch, Brandon. My roommate has it running on his ASUS A7V133 and he didn't have to install the 4in1's.

Bacillus,

Thanks for the info. I am running W2K w/ SP2. Should Ijust not use the VIA AGP driver at all? The problem I'm having is the system just likes to hang occassionally while playing a game (Max Payne, Serious Sam are the frequest problem apps). The system runs fine otherwise. The temp never seems to be too hot but I'm wondering if it might be a hardware issue?

Thanks,
Tom

no, use it but try it installed in normal mode which is usually better for stability if you're getting problems with X4AGP transfers!
