I feel that a64 3500+ is bit slower with windows xp pro sp2 or is it just me? I am thinking about getting a64 x2 4800+ this week. Will I see a lot difference?

no..but you'll be able to run more apps smoother, without interuption by having an extra core.

Well, you really don't need an excuse to upgrade processors. But, if you want to find out how it will perform in all of your single-threaded apps, just give your RAM 2.7v, and set your HTT to 218. Though, you'd also want to change your HTT multi to 4.

Yea my system have 1GB memory but I beleive 4 sticks (256MB each) might be the reason slower.

Slower at doing what? The X2 will allow you to run CPU-intensive tasks faster, such as video encoding. But if you're talking about things such as file transfers, web surfing, email access, or just Word/Excel usage, then no, the upgrade won't do a thing for you. What kind of applications are you running (or trying to run)? Some people say their machines feel like they run "snappier" with a dual-core chip. I'd be sure you plan to use all that CPU power because $300 is a lot of money for "snappy".

Ok lemme see I often run Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Creative Studio 2, and some other graphic applications. I also have 3D Studio MAX (and Maya) I also play some good games.

It seems slow down is Norton AV 2006, Trillian Pro, and Google Desktop and some other processes.
