Are there any major price for performance differences in these two CPUs, should I wait the extra week for the 3800+.

Somebody help me out,is the performance difference that great, I am getting the 3500 + cheap too 307$ only while the 3800+ is like 360$. I can buy an extra Hardisk 80GB SATA with the money.

Unfortunately the San degio core is not available here, yet so I may be looking at 1 month or more wait for the 3700+ (I want this baby so BAAD).

From the benchmarks I have seen the performance difference between the 3500+ and 3800+ is not too great, plus I wont feel so bad when I dump the 3500+ for an dual CPU in the next year or so.

any good points for the 3800+

Chances are the 3500+ will clock to 2.5 and beyond at default core.. Save the $60..

There is quite a chance when overclocked, the 3800+ will have a higher overclock than the 3500+. But, why aren't you buying a 3700+ San Diego? They're cheaper than the 3800+ Venice, and perform better at stock. They have 1 MB cache, and overclock much better :D.

Oops. Sorry, I didn't catch that one. The question is: If you would buy the 3800+, would you buy that SATA 80 GB drive when you'd buy the 3500+? I mean, if you were going to buy the drive anyway, invest in the 3800+, you'll get a higher overclock ;).

I will buy only 1X80 GB SATA with the 3800+ but 2X 80GB SATA with 3500+, also I am thinking of getting a HD-tv card for my PC, so some of the money will go towards that too.

You guys taunt me with the 3700+, its the perfect CPU for me 1 MB L2 cache and the new 'San Degio Core'. Its within my budget too, but alas I live in Dubai and have never ordered anything online and I am scared, that on top of the initial shipping cost (which is a lot) I would have to send it back again if something is wrong.

Hey maybe you guys can help me, by telling me sites which have international shipping and good return policies, I tried myself but I know very little about online shopping.

WooT!

Everyone always thinks the higher chips overclock better, and that's not always the case..
Some 3500/3800+ struggle with 2.6ghz

The only downside to a 3000+ is that you need a good mobo that can handle a higher HTT..

At least 275+

well I got the 3500+ today, going to buy a good PSU and case tommorow,

here are my specs

AMD A64 3500+ ( venice )
epox 9npla+ SLI
80X1 GB western digital cavier SE SATA
MSI 6800 GT PCI-e
512X2 RAM Kingston Value
LG DVD ROM

so how many watts power supply should I need. I thinking of getting a 450 watts from good brand ( any idea which ones are best).

oh one more funny thing I found out the A64 X2 dual core (hard to get but possible, I could have got one if I had the cash) CPUs are available over here but not the San Degio

That is quite funny. By the way, it's San Diego, not San Degio. San Diego as in the place.
