AMD A10-6800K Integrated GPU

So I want to start a new build but I don't have the money to buy a graphics card. Is the integrated graphics on the new A10-6800K good enough to play modern games like battlefield and call of duty. Will also be able to play battlefield 4 and call if duty ghost.

This is quite untrue, especially at 720p (low settings part). Most console ports run fine @ 720p and High Settings.

I am running a A10-5800K in one of my builds - At a very mild OC of 4.2GHz and 950MHz GPU on the Stock Cooler.

It can easily play Sleeping Dogs at 1360x768 on High Settings with even the High Texture Pack Enabled at Average around 55 FPS with never dipping below 30. It plays Call of Duty Black Ops on High Settings no issue. I play MLB2K12 Maxed out with 4x AA locked at 60 FPS. Batman Arkham City on High Settings with 2x AA averaged 55 FPS at 1366x768 - I even made a quick video showing somebody else here before

To be honest, the A10-5800K is fine for a casual gamer who just wants to play some games here and there. (Or in my Case, a Tiny HTPC box with the ability of a game here and there). It's certainly capable enough for light gaming. 1080p will be more of a stretch without hitting low settings, which honestly, will still look better more often than not compared to consoles.

Do not buy an APU.

A good cpu with a 7700 will demolish it. It can play modern AAA titles on HIGH - not ultra and not MSAA - but High with GOOD frames. Buying an APU you will have LOW fps with low resolution.
 
Eagle - the 6800K isn't much faster than the 5800K so if money is really tight go with the 5800K.

Frozentundra/Shephard (who spends most of their time trolling APU threads) -

Start by reading the initial post. He can't afford a discrete graphics card. Some of you need to pull your heads out of your asses and realise this is the normal situation for most PC buyers.

If $50 more *is* too much then I read any more crap about spending another $100 on a system that is "twice as fast" I think I might just scream.

Did I make that clear enough or are you just going to continue being retarded in every god damned APU thread?

Marginally. They're basically the same physical chip, any performance gains are from increased base clocks.

If you ever plan on getting a discrete GPU, the 6800K is a waste as you'll have paid extra for an iGPU you won't be using. If you end up happy with what you get, it's a good deal, just don't expect too much.

Not much - Its the same chip with tiny overclocks.

The A10-6800K is 5% faster than the 5800K... and $20 more... and the 5800K easily O/C's to the 6800k, so you may want to consider the 5800K to save $20


If your on a tight budget, start with the A10-5800K... add a video card later.

What resolution you gaming on? if 1080p, most single GPU's will run just as well on the A10 as any other Intel CPU. If Crossfire/SLI is in your future though, avoid the A10 and jump right into a 2500k used if you can find one.

The A10 is as fast as a i3 while also having a decent GPU for backup.

There are tons of folks out there who game and enjoy it very much so on budget friendly hardware.

The OP clearly does not have the funds for a enthusiast level PC, so stop crapping on the parts the make the most sense for him. The A10 is probably AMD's best chip on the market right compared to its price. I would take it any day over a Celeron/Pentium/i3 CPU. i5's new cost $200.00.
 
If you are on a tight budget then AMD is the way to go. You have two choices either go AM3+ motherboard or FM2 motherboard. If you decide FM2 m/b, there are FM2 cpus out there that have the IG disabled. These cpus are usually the cheapest quad cores on the market right now. They usually run under a $100. So this m/b and cpu combo would range from $125-$200 depending upon the m/b.
Or you can go AM3+ and get a 6300 for around $120-130 and if you add on a m/b the range can be $175-300 depending upon which m/b you decide on. Get a good enough m/b and you can o/c the cpu and possibly the graphics card. You can overclock FM2 but it is a bit trickier and more reliant on the speed of the ram.
Of course the price range I mention is US prices so depending upon where you live the cost can vary.

This of course is a general idea of what is out there AMD wise.
 
If you go used, you can get a really solid deal. For the same money as a 5800k APU off of Newegg, you could get either the same thing for cheaper, or you could get something like a Phenom II X4 and a 5770 which while not the latest and greatest or super fast, would still be faster than the 5800k

It is just a tweak for lower power and slightly increased clocks. It will be barely 5 to 10 percent faster than the Trinity counterpart. A 7750 or especially 7770 will absolutely destroy it in gaming.

To be honest, you would be better off with a cheaper cpu like the athlon 750 and a discrete card for very little additional cost.

Chill dude, why is it so important to you to claim an Apu is a good gaming chip? And actually, you can scream all you want, I dont really care. It makes me want to scream just as much to see posters keep insisting one should game on an APU when such a small additional cost can double gaming performance. And honestly, it seems to me anyone who can afford to buy games, pay for internet, etc. can afford 50.00 for a discrete gpu.
 
APU is not the way to go. You have to spend extra on better ram just to get the best performance.

7750 is ok, but 7770 is a pretty good card. You can get one for $89 after MIR.

I'm not saying it's a good gaming chip but it's good enough.

Some people just want to game - as cheaply as possible - APU's let them do that.
 
Get a 5800K, set the GPU to over 1GHz, buy some 2133+ RAM and blast away. Don't listen to anybody who tells you an APU can't game.

Indeed. I was without my HD7850 for about 3 weeks and I was quite surprised that I was able to run Civ V, EVE, Starcraft 2, Minecraft, and even Guild Wars 2 well enough on the HD4000 that came with my 3570K. Most of them I ran with lowish settings, but they were all playable at 1920x1200.

Nobody say it "can't" game, except some newer games at 1080p. What APU fans cant seem to accept is that a discrete card will give 2x the performance for the price of one AAA game, or if you shop carefully maybe even less. It is a no-brainer.
 
Nobody is refusing to accept it. What they're telling you, myself included, is that it matters increasingly less to the actual experience. Ask Sony and Microsoft.

Why can't you accept that? 😕
