He said faster ram was too expensive which means he was trying to make readers believe he actually purchased the system himself. This is the behavior of a shill.

No it's not - it's the behaviour of somebody who doesn't want people to think he got stuff for free. Did you consider it might also have been won in a competition?

Looking at his other posts (bad graphics, overheating), if he's a shill he's a really %^&$ BAD ONE.

You people sicken me.

From AMD :

The AMD A-Series Test Drive program targets AMD’s most vocal fans who are active in the component community. AMD provides the components and software (OS, apps) necessary to build an A-Series-based system and asks in turn that participants build a system, then comment/post their experiences (videos, photos, comments, etc.), ultimately helping to guide other enthusiasts to become advocates of AMD.

What would you call that?

I would call it this:

"Shill" typically refers to someone who purposely gives onlookers the impression that they are an enthusiastic independent customer of a seller (or marketer of ideas) for whom they are secretly working. The person or group who hires the shill is using crowd psychology to encourage other onlookers or audience members to purchase the goods or services (or accept the ideas being marketed)

Where in any of these posts is the OP doing this? So far he has admitted to getting the wrong Windows key, can't oc because of the crappy stock cooler and is having issues with the iGPU.

Are you sure he's not an INTEL plant?

Well this thread sure does dispel the crazy idea that awesome AMD forum ninja's are secretly taking over with their cunning plans and viral marketing. A worse advert for AMD you could hardly find.

Did you not notice the OP didn't admit to being a Test Drive member until being called on it by Vesku?

E.g. Someone might work for Intel, but want to keep that fact secret, so that they don't get a constant stream of PM's, complaining about Intel, asking Intel related questions, etc etc.
But in that case, they should be careful what they say, so that it does not come to bite them or Intel, later.

I work in the software industry at a fairly well known company. I don't let people know it. I think I've let 2-3 people on these forums know where I work when they posted problems I thought I could in some way help with. I read threads about the product I work on to gain some interesting feedback. However, I don't in any way broadcast support for my product and generally stay AWAY from discussions about my product for two reasons: the first is I'll be called a shill or whatever (actually, I have a fair amount of dislike for some of the stuff my company does) and the second is that I don't want constant hate mail or questions.

My point is: if you're related to Intel, going into Intel threads and saying "INTEL IS GOOD. AMD IS EVIL." is pretty awful, and I bet Intel doesn't even condone it. If you're biased in this fashion, you should work to avoid using that bias to influence people. Leave that to the PR folks.

Exactly!

Also, if they know you work for a particular company, they may take what you say out of context, and think it is an official response.

I could say, most Ivy Bridge chips overclock to 5 GHz, but if I worked for Intel, some people would take that as an endorsement, and complain when their particular chip does not go above 4.7 GHz. (N.B. Making no claim about overclockability of Ivy's here, it was just an example).
