AMD 939 temps

Just ran Coretemp on my server PC which has an older SKT 939 3800+ and an xp-90 hsf. At idle with defaults, the temp is 53 degrees. I'm in Miami and the local temp is 29 degrees so I'm thinking this is too hot. There are 4 hdds in the rig but I'm not sure how much of an effect thats going to have. Can anyone advise me? Thanks

yeah they're pretty high

the xp-90 is a good cooler, try re-installing it (cleaning the contact points and do a good job with the thermal paste)

and is this an X2 3800+ or just single core 3800+?

yup they're pretty high, u should try re installing it as i've said, or it could be a problem with your overal computer airflow.

Its an X2 dual core cpu. The case was pretty warm inside when I opened it up but its an aluminum case and has two 120mm fans going. Don't know whats causing the heat up but I'll probably reseat it just in case. BTW, is coretemp good for AMD rigs?

Just found something interesting. I had the vcore set to auto and the Epox mobo was giving the cpu 1.425V when the default should be 1.35. Temps now in the low 40s. Surprised that a good maker like Epox could have such an error.
