I will wait until I start seeing more an more of them..i am sure they wil be blended in with current stocks....A high volume retailer like monarch, newegg, ZZF, etc may see them sooner then most...Then I will buy one...
The exciting news is the 3000+ will still be there...Unfortunately I think I will go with the 3200+ and the 10x multi...if 3ghz is a reality then I would have to push 333HTT...NO THANKS!!!

I wonder what the priceing will be?

I think AMD's pricing will be identical to that for the Winchesters. However, vendors may price gouge.

April 4th...that would be really sweet if true. :D

If they come out a reasonable prices (say, around $200 or less for a 3200+), I'd jump on it. However...part of me wants to wait until the new video cards are out, so I could get a PCI-Express motherboard. I currently have an AGP 6800GT that I've had since last July, so if I bought an A64 board with AGP...I might want to upgrade again a few months down the line. I've been "limping along" with this Athlon XP for quite a while now, what's a few more months? :p

Edit: Not to mention that I'd almsot surely need a separate sound card too, if I want to keep my Dolby Digital encoding ability. Just more to add to the list of things to buy..:(

Maybe Intel will release smithfield April 1st?:p

I'm definity getting 3200 if I get one... This 9x multi is a PITA/not very flexible on 3000s...especially so if they clock to 2900-3000Mhz... That would mean you'd need both board and mem controller high capable... like 333Mhz min.

E4 = 1 MB L2, so it's only reserved for ultra-high end components in the 939 line.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but...

Let's say I purchase a board like the A8N-E from newegg.com. Assuming I waited and got the venice, yet the board still had an old bios, would I still be able to boot the board with the venice enough to flash a new bios to it, or is this one of those deals where you need an older processor to load the new bios before you can use the new processor?

With that board you'd be able to. I just received one from NewEgg and it has the updated bios loaded.

OK, but, more generally, you still need an updated bios just to boot?

Beware of the NForce3/4 incompatibility with these CPUs.
I got my 3500+ and I suspect it is rev E. DFI SLI-DR does not boot with it.
Do you happen to know if the 2005/3/10 BIOS fixes this?

You suspect it's Rev E? Eh let me know what the very first line reads on the processor. ADA3500******** etc. Last two are the most important.
