Meh, not really that hot. Athlon 3500+ - $260-$280 Neo2- $120-140

So $380 on light side $420 on pricer. Right in the middle.

Actually the 3500+ is the Newcastle core so truely, the deal is not hot at all. Can be had for cheaper individually at Neweg...

What sane man isnt?!?!

The type that believes that an extra ten frames per second isn't worth the 250 bucks for the board and 500-1000 bucks for two SLI-capable PCIe video cards.

Not to mention SLI, though not new, is new when it comes to usage over the PCIe bus, and thus could be highly susceptible to instability through it's maturation process.

But WHO CARES IF IT'S FAST AND IT'LL BE THE ENVY OF GEEKS FOR ABOUT FOUR MONTHS?!?!?!

4 months? more like 4 weeks :) Video cards are comming out faster then good half-life2 reviews.

That board is a good board, the chip is up to the user. the Price is as mentioned not bad not great.

well, if that's the case then it won't cost 500-1000 bucks for two SLI capable video cards.

Regardless of whether you want SLI, you'd be crazy not to wait for Nforce4 at this point anyway. If you're willing to spend the money on a 939 setup, don't get one with AGP only that you won't be able to get a new video card for. Gotta wait for a PCIE board, even if for just one card.

do they have any estimate on when nforce 4 boards are coming out?

In what way is it better than the nforce 3 boards? I'm about to build a gaming system.

The prospect of becoming essentially an unpaid beta tester for nForce4, SLI, PCIe, and the various motherboards that will include these features isn't exactly something I'm willing to either wait for or pay a premium for the priviledge of using. NF4 isn't out now, I'm not willing to wait for any supply or pricing issues to settle down, and frankly I don't see a good enough reason to do so. I wouldn't be getting SLI anyways, so NF4 and all the rest isn't a must have product for me. YMMV of course.

wow you are nearsighted.
Get ONE 6800gt now and about a year down the road spend~ 200 on another and gain way more frames than "10".

By that time you can also drop ~200 on a 3800+ and you will have twice the computer for ~400 bux.

Newegg has these seperately for $408 shipped, this is only slightly warmer.

On the other hand, Newcastles are supposed to overclock very easily on stock cooling, if it were me, I'd buy their lowest newcastle, the 3000+, and OC it to post 3500+ levels.

ASUS A8N-SLI DELUXE NFORCE4 SLI CHIPSET FOR AMD 939-PIN CPU DDR400 SATA RAID DUAL PCI-EXPRESS SLOT PLATFORM W/ AUDIO, USB2.0, IEEE1394, & LAN is on pre order at a couple places showing 12/10 as the date they come in.

we will see if it actually comes in tho. Price is set in the high 200's so hopefully a month after they are out and other manufactor boards come out it will drop to mid 100's.

NF4 is essentially NF3 with PCI-express, there shouldn't be a large number of technical issues with it. Boards are on their way right now, they'll be in stock within the next couple weeks.

The point I'm making is why would you buy an AGP board at this point in time? AGP is dead. What a waste to build an awesome new rig and not be able to buy a new video card for it a year from now.

I seriously doubt ATI & Nvidia are going to be totally PCI-E with their next cards. That would severely limit the market of their cards.

Other than SLI, what is the advantage of PCI-E over AGP? I'd rather buy a proven motherboard with a good track record than be a guinea pig with a new NF4 chipset just for PCI-E.

pci-e can go up to 16x whereas agp is stuck at 8x.
