AMD 9000 series (or whatever it will be called).

What are your thoughts on AMDs next wave of video cards that are allegedly coming out within the next few weeks? Will AMD pull off what nVidia did with the 700 series and simply drop each last generation card down a price bracket with a few minor improvements? Will they release a single GPU card to fight the Titan and / or the GTX 780?

I'm guessing that AMD will release a "9970" which will perform somewhere between the GTX 770 and the GTX 780, and will be priced at $525. Then they will release the "9950" which will perform about evenly with the GTX 770, and will cost about $375. Next is the 9870, which will perform at about the same level as the 7970 GHz Edition, and will cost $300. Next is the 9850, which will perform between the 7950 and 7970 for $225.

Also as an additional incentive each card will come with three free games due to AMDs persistent bundling. This will result in what I hope to be a very competitive 2nd half of 2013! ;)

I don't see one. Post a link of the allegedly similar thread if having two threads with similar content is not allowed (I'm new here).'

Am I the only one who can't wait until tomorrow for AMD to release their next generation cards, every day? Never before has mid-high range cards cost so little (GTX 760 @ $250, HD 7950 @ $225, HD 7870 @ 200) and with AMDs 9000 series things will only get more competitive... AND 20nm is not expected to make its debut until mid-late 2014. That's PLENTY of time for a sub $250 7970 equivalent! ;)

Or you can just find a 7970 for under $250. I sold mine for $225.

Ah yes, I saw that thread. That thread is based around a rumor which I personally do not believe in (as is the case with most rumors I hear).

This thread that I have created is more of a speculative / prediction thread regarding AMDs next generation of video cards (not based around rumors, based around opinions using knowledge based around facts).

what facts. no concrete information is available on AMD Hawaii. There are expectations in the market that Hawaii competes with Titan. Some leaked benchmarks showed Hawaii edging out a Titan. but they could be false.

we need actual launch day reviews to see whats the actual performance. I am still optimistic of Hawaii providing Titan performance at USD 600.

Sorry, I was unclear. What I meant was use your prior knowledge of video cards to make educated guesses on what AMDs 9000 series will entail. Obviously there are no facts to back up any of my claims, or your claims.

I predict that it will be 28nm based (not 20) and that the flagship single-GPU card in the series COULD potentially have a larger-than-in-previous-generations die aimed at rivaling GK110. Regardless of the hardware, I will not speculate on performance as the condition of launch drivers will play a significant factor, and I have only hopes (not evidence) that AMD will do a better job on this department than in the previous gen.

As for pricing, I agree that anything over USD550-600 is unlikely for the flagship (single GPU) card in the series.

If they can get a card out that at least outperforms the GTX 770, I will be happy. I just hope they don't pull off what nVidia did and rebrand the HD 7970. That would suck! :p

GTX 770 - is pretty much neck and neck with a 7970GE. I don't think this will be a problem.

Are you serious :colbert:

That was my reaction when I realized what the 700 series was. o_O

But seeing the shape of AMD today, my expectations for them aren't too high. All I want from them, and all they need is a good high end chip and good drivers. I don't expect a god chip from them with 15B transitors... Yet.

So somewhere between 0-25% faster than the 7970Ghz for a 75% higher price? I sure hope not.

Then they will release the "9950" which will perform about evenly with the GTX 770, and will cost about $375.
Why buy a 9950 on par with a GTX 770 when you can pick up a 1Ghz 7970 for $280 that does the same thing today?

Next is the 9870, which will perform at about the same level as the 7970 GHz Edition, and will cost $300.
I think you're confused about how AMD's lineup compares to Nvidias.
