which AMD 64 do you suggust getting, which is the best value. I decided to choose this chip over the pentium, but which speed do you think is the best. I do plan on overclocking because the AMD 64 are kinda of slow.

In my research - I found the AMD64's to be as fast, if not faster than the Pentiums - except in a few certain multimedia applications. In fact, it has been generally conceeded here that the AMD64's are the best gaming CPU's. The real question seems to boil down to what lower end AMD64 to buy - in order to overclock it - to save money.

Good point. Some of the Adobe video editing programs recommend the Pentium's with Hyperthreading.

So it's all a matter of application.

Next question, what is a good mobo for the price to overclock with?

If you don't already know this the A64 has a different arcitecture than a P4. So even though the A64 only runs at say 2.4ghz it will be around the performance of a 3.5-4.0 ghz P4 depending on what socket and amount of cache. This is because AMD uses a shorter pipeline than Intel meaning it has to use less speed than an Intel to get the same amount of work done.

As for what cpu to buy I would get one of the lower end 90nm cpu's.
