Having the OS itself run 64-bit native is supposed to make an average 8% difference for even 32-bit apps, according to Microsoft. Then there is the obvious larger virtual memory space, and the ability to run 64-bit apps with double both the register count & register size.

I tried Windows XP 64 Beta but i dumped it because i had some driver problems right from the start and i had no patience to bother with it.

I will definitively move to WXP64 once it's released though , i have heard that it's supposed to improve performences for A64 users (but that's still to be seen , i really have an hard time beleiving the hype of big monopolistic compagnies these days.Just look at the NV 40/broken VPU)
