AMD 64 CPU Running WAY Too Hot

Ran everest to see my temps and my mobo is running at 40c, which i guess is ok. however my cpu runs at 56c! thats 133 degrees farenheight. i don't know why it's running so hot. i have a dual fan TT psu, stock heatsink/fan, and 1 90mm fan in the back of the case.

My second question is: When i received my retail AMD64 cpu i didn't spread the thermalpaste. It was already pre-applied on the bottom of my heatsink/fan so i just placed it on top of the cpu. Should i go back and spread the paste, or does it come pre-spread already? Like the paste looked spread already...and since t was already applied for me, i just popped the hsf right onto the cpu. what should i do?

Temps sensors often misread the temps, so it might not actually be running that hot. To tell for sure if its running to hot, touch the HSF while the computer is running and see if it is very hot to the touch, or if it is cold. If its to hot, its to hot 🙂, but if its cold then the heatsink isn't installed correctly.

You aren't suppossed to spread the thermalpad on the HSF, or touch it for that matter.

It is...I always recommend you never put stock in one apps reporting...try speedfan and see if you get it to agree....

40c is hot...I get to 27c with 100% load and max cpu temp is 50c.....

You used stock cooling with TIM pad...In mopst instances that is fine. The story may be what is the rest of the components in your case and how is the case cooling??

a system temp of 40c is a bit high, how many fans do you have in your case? 4 low-rpm fans (2 in 2 out) gives me system temp of 32c and a cpu temp of 53c. Try adding another fan and see how that does.

I have a stock HSF and my temps are 22c idle and 33c underload with my +3000 Winnie at 2.4Ghz, this is probably because the room I run my PC in is about 50f and the side of my case is off but if your sure those temps are correct i'd see about dabbin some AS5 on there.

I have 21-22c idle and I am in a room of 66-68f with case side on....It is about effective intake of that cooler room air and exhausting the warmer air being given off by the vid card and cpu.....It is about air replacement....The quicker warmer air is expelled and cooler room air is intaked the case air will stay cooler and overall temps wil decrease....

22c idle with 50f room air isn't that great!!! That is 10c...means case or system temps are 12c over room....Damn that is cold...i would expect under 20c...I left the door open one day when I was taking boxes in and out and the room temp dropped to 60f and my system temps dropped to 18c....
