AMD 64 3000+

I know I want a Winchestor core 90nm model.
If you look at the real time pricing guide there are 9 choices. Should i be looking soley at the price or should i be trying to find the highest cache with the best price ratio?

all winchesters are socket 939, with 512K L2 cache. The 3000+ is 1.8GHz, the 3200+ is 2.0GHz, and the 3500+ is 2.2GHz. If you look for socket 939 3000+ and 3200+, then it will be a winchester because there is no other core on 939 with those performance ratings. But with the 3500, there is a newcastle core as well as a winchester. Get winchester - it'll perform and OC better (as long as you're not going with sub-zero cooling, cause there is a bug with that). Just look for 90nm, or winchester core - most times they will make mention of it.

As for price, the 3000+ and 3200+ are the kings in this area. The 3000+ is technically a better deal, but the higher multiplier on the 3200 makes very high OCs easier to attain (to get to 2.7GHz, you only have to hit 273FSB rather than 300FSB with the 3000+). Personally I don't feel the 3500+ is worth the price premium right now, but it's your call.

is there a difference in the cache category?
I know they are all made with 512K, but why are the listed as such?

I'm pretty sure those are all the same core; it's just the different websites.
Just pick the cheapest one and make sure that it's a Winchester, then buy.

Actually, there are 3 different types of 3500+. There are NewCastles, ClawHammers and finally Winchesters.

All those are exactly the same. The reason they listed the cache is because some A64's have 1mb cache, while others have 512kb. All winchester 3000s have 512kb though.
