AMD 64 3000+

box looks like their usual box they've been using for the past couple months, upgraded from the plastic one..

That's very good news!

$180 for retail box should push down the OEM prices which are currently at $179 on pricewatch.

This chip is supposed to be da bomb! I hear it can overclock 40% more from its original speed. With its socket 939, this might become the next Barton 2500+ as the most popular performance/price winner.

Thanks 😉

They are in California, so yes. Maybe you're close enough to pick up (if they allow it) so you can save on shipping.

How can you save on free shipping? You could save some time if they were close, but with free shipping, it'd cost more to go get it as you'd have to pay for gas.

Damn you! $310 for Athlon64 3000+ and MSI K8N Neo2 Plat nForce3 Ultra mobo.

Was gonna wait, but you're all forcing me into this.

The voices in my head are telling me that if I don't buy this they'll be forced to stick a pencil in my ear. I think they're bluffing, but should I risk it?

My ear is worth more than $300.

Just look at the kind of crazy stuff I have to live with each day.

Athlon 64 3000+
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum nForce3 Ultra

Total: $332.46 (including tax, wth free shipping and a free game).

Is that a good deal?

You'd better do as they ask. There's no talking 'em down.

Probably within a month...
The Register

I think I might get the processor now and wait on the motherboard. I don't want AMD going psycho and start changing the processors around so they don't overclock as well.

If you need it now: Yes
If you can wait a month: No

The nForce 4 boards will have PCI-Express amongst other improvements.

I made a bargain with them. I give them more espresso and I don't bleed from the ears. Seemed like a win-win situation.
I just wish they won't bounce around so much when they're caffeinated.

the nf4 mobos will be like $200 won't they? If so, and if you plan on getting an AGP card anyways, I would say this is an awesome deal right now. I wouldn't wait for nf4 unless you want to SLI...

I wonder if the CPU price will come down more in a month. I may purchase the CPU now and wait for a NForce 4 board to come out.

I think the price will almost definitely drop after a month.. probably not a good idea

ZipZoomFly never allows pickups. They operate in one city in California, but they actually ship from a warehouse from another city.

Is the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum the only good overclocking board for the 939 CPU? I'd rather use a different board maker if possible but it doesn't look like there are many options right now.
