AMD 5870 causing BSOD in Fallout NV?

Running Fallout NV on Asus ROG laptop, AMD 5870 catalyst 15.7.1. During gameplay, I get a black screen, but sound continues and task manager says game is running. Of course, I have to exit and restart game. I also sometimes get a flickering screen (gray with lines) that sometime appears, then goes away. What causes these issues and how to fix???

have you tried underclocking the memory and core clocks a little bit? also check the temps, it's an old card and it can be full of dust.

No. How do I clean a laptop vid card? Is it safe to open a laptop? Why underclock?
