AMD 4870 x2 on Gigabyte P35 DS3L

Hey everyone,

Im thinking on buying a 4870 x2 video card, but im not sure if the card is too much for my ds3l motherboard, being that its a pcie 1.1 as opposed to 2.0. In the mobo i have a q9450 with 4 gigs or ram. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Dont really want to upgrade my motherboard, id rather just get a solid video card that'll last me that way i can hold out 'till for the next few generations. If I dont get the 4870 x2 then I guess my next choice is NV's 280 as its a pretty damn good performer. Anyway, thanks to everyone who responds.

Peace

Just came from a similar thread and your board would workout just fine. The current crop of PCI-E 2.0 cards work just as fast on boards such as yours and mine, if there is a difference at all, it would be minimal.

Thats cool. Now I can finally do some hi res gaming in my 23" screen 🙂. Thanks for the response. Peace.
