My 4800+ is arriving tomorrow and I was going to replace my existing single core 3500+ with it.

I currently have an XP-90 HSF on it with a pretty good fan on top. Will this be adequate to cool the 4800+.

My XP-90 is not the copper version.

Cheers.

At stock speeds, it will be fine. You won't be able to get a max overclock with it, though.

No worries there as I never overclock my machines.

I was alittle worried because my current CPU hits 57C under heavy load but I haven't cleaned the dust out in probably over a year.

XP-90 should be plenty.

This 4800 939 is new? Who's still selling them?

I assume the mb has been checked for dual-core support. If not already done, the bios should be updated with the 3500.

57c is not unheard of under full load but it is a little on the high side. Got good case ventilation?

I use an XP-90 on my 4800, but it is the copper version, but I also have a lower RPM fan on the XP-90 to keep it quiet. Can't check the temp, I'm not at home, but it will keep the system running when I overclock.

TigerDirect and NewEgg are both selling OEM versions of the chip for around $120.

NewEgg hasn't had that chip in stock since Jan/Feb of this year.

Yep, I am using an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe and according to the cpu chart it is supported.

Just got the new processor installed.

Did anyone else with an X2 AMD processor install the MS or AMD hotfixes or Dual Core Optimizer?

Can't go wrong with that. I used an XP-90C with my rig for awhile. I moved over to a SFF, which has the same CPU. The 4800+ is still an excellent processor, though it's obviously lapped by the Core 2s now.
