I overclocked my amd x2 4200 to 2.57ghz using 1.30 for vcore voltage. Any programs out there to test my system stability and cpu temperature? Any clue how much more I can get out of my cpu?

i'm usinng an asus n2n-e nforce 5 570 motherboard and corsair 2 x 1024mb 6400ddr2 model cm2x1024-6400c4d.

according to my asus probe II, my current cpu temp is about 77 f or 26c, but that without running a stress test.

well I've been running my system at 2.6ghz for most of the day today. Idle temperature is about 25c to 27c, that according to pc-wizard 2006 from cpuid.

heatsink im using is the thermaltake venus 12

case im using is the antec 900

Check that out, you can get Prime95 or SuperPi to test for stability. I prefer SP2004 since it has a more user friendly layout :p

Don't forget to run 2 instances of Prime or SP2004 and set each instance for a different core when testing for stability.

Well I just ran a prime95 stress test with my amd athlong 64 x2 4200 overclocked to 2.6ghz. CPU temperature went to about 45c-47c? How is that for a stress test temp? I know my system isnt using the best heatsink/fan como. I forget what kinkd thermalright heatsink I have. All I know it about 2-3 years old.

You have to run two instances of Prime95 for dual-cores, which is a bit complicated. Just run the only dual-core enabled app, that does exactly the same thing: Orthos. Set it to run @ Priority of 8, and see what your temps are after 15 minutes or so.

Those temps are pretty good. At stock, my X2 idles at around 23'C, but at 2.6GHz it seems to hover around 29-30'C.
