AMD 3400 + motherboard only $89.99

GREAT price. I picked it up last week for 99.99 and set it up today and I absolutely love it. I got the biostar board mainly because from the pictures it had more room for my Thermal Take Big Typhoon and loving it.

3400+ speeds are beautiful over my AXP2200+ 😀 Especially for 99....and now 89!

I LOVE Intel for what they did...and I've never had an intel chip till I got my parents that 2.66 P4D at fries with mobo combo for 75 ;
 
I ordered this Combo yesterday for $99.

Saw this link and cancelled the order...

Then I tried to hit the Buy Button...
" Sorry, We can't find this Item. Please check your Item#"

Then I got the Email Confirmation That My Order Was Cancelled

I already have a 4200+ X2 I built for myself.
My buddy has a 3 year old Athlon XP 2400+, runs at 2 GHz, 256 L2 cache, 266 FSB. How much of an improvement would he see by going to the AMD 3400+ chip?

The main reason i am getting it is because, rumor has it that most will do 2.6 ghz no problem.
and 2.7-2.8 is possible with out getting too fancy.

At that speed they supposedly benchmark in sandra like an FX-57/fx-55, and do Super PI 1M in the 32 second range.

I am still looking for Game bench's..

But it does look pretty good for single threaded apps. 😀

Not sure how the biostar board overclocks. I plan on using that for the overclocked Sempron that will be moving out of my curent set up.

I moved from an Athlon XP @ 2.2 ghz to a 2800+ sempron @2.4 gig. It was a nice bump.

Yep, finally is after 9am pst yet the link is still not working.

If it does eventually work, don't forget to add heatsink/fan/thermal grease. CPU is OEM (no heatsink/fan).

The CPU looks to be a socket 754 Venice, so everything you've read about overclocking Venice chips for socket 939 should apply. With the motherboard, these look to be the ones that were BIOS compatible with the ECS NFORCE3-A boards. The board should be good for around a 250-280MHz HTT range. Just remember to keep the HT multiplier low enough so that the HT speed is around 800MHz give or take. To put this CPU into perspective, if it had dual channel it would be called a 3800+. This is an awesome deal for anyone looking to upgrade from slower socket A or 478 who has a good video card - keep your video card and RAM. One note about the motherboard is that it doesn't have Smart Fan, meaning CPU fan will run at full speed all the time.
 
Amazing deal even at $99! I upgraded from a Socket A Sempron 2400+ @ 1.66ghz to this Socket 754 Athlon 64 3400+ @ 2.4 ghz and the difference is night and day. My Performance in World of Warcraft doubled to quadroupled by just switching the CPU out. (had a gig of corsair ram and a 9600XT video card) I also got to keep my video card and ram without having to upgrade to that damn DDR2 stuff just for the privilege of buying a Core 2 duo or X2 processor AND motherboard and video card. Can't be beat for a hundread bucks.
 
Ya know where else you can get the link from? Go to FW, search "3400" and it's in one of the threads there... DATED JULY 26 ! ! !

Oh, well. At least it made me think and realize that I could move some components around other computers and make a super cheap step-up from an oc'd barton.
 
I orfered the 3400+ with Biostar mobo for $99.00 Friday.

I will post after I receive it and set it up.



I bought the 3000+ with ECS mobo a while back.
A64 Venice 754, it is running at 2500 mHZ on stock voltage (1.4) at 44 c. with a plain cooler.
I havent tried any farther as the ECS is topped out at 250, am going to test it in the Biostar and see if it will go higher.
